Well this morning has been rather productive already - made over £7 on p/a and got a £5 Big River Company e-voucher as well. So I have £16k cash that I can get my hands on immediately, any time I want it. That pays for a roof, a bathroom, loft boarding, new carpets, new doors, a damp proof course, and possibly hard flooring for the ground floor. If I get all that done then there is only the kitchen/back of the house left to do. I have worked out that I am saving about £600 a month, which I am splitting between the savings accounts and the mortgage overpayments. Every single month. Still have £300 left in the budget for the rest of the month. Any excess will go into savings. Where else would they go?I have 'bought' The Tempest on DvD for no cost to myself also from The Big River Company (2nd hand) with free money from survey payments. 49p + P&P. DS3 is studying it, so we might as well watch Helen Mirren's take on it.DS4 is most of the way through Wednesday's work. Hoping to get on to Thursday before lunchtime. No idea what I am making for lunch, or supper, will do a freezer inventory and pantry inspection in a minute.I am still in my PJs after another night of rubbish sleep. DH is not sleeping well either, we might be making each other worse by rolling about all the time.Scored free burgers and tofu yesterday. Think they were supermarket subs that the customer did not want. All in my freezer and will do at least 3 meals. Hooray! I think I am going to celebrate Chinese New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year, Half Term No Teaching Week, Valentine's Day, International Pancake Day, National Lockdown Easing Measures Plan Day (22nd) and Car Full Servicing Day (26th), February is turning into quite a busy little month, considering we are nearly a quarter of the way through already.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I have just found the plastic inserts that the chocolate Easter eggs came in last year. I kept them to make my own this year. Must try and remember to pick up some cheapy blocks of chocolate and get on with doing it. Personalised gifts and messages inside eggs. How to melt a tiny person's mind.

f0xh0les said:They have maths and grammar every day, and some kind of project work (global warming) and art and PE. PE was the first to go. Art is a one day a week speed session and we pretend it took all week.It is totally unfair to introduce algebra while parents are teaching at home. It is really simple stuff so he can't understand why the answer has to be 3a = 9 and not a=3 . He is trying to solve the problem, rather than write the equation. It has just resulted in him throwing his sheets of paper across the room and proclaiming THIS IS STUPID!!! He is totally convinced we are making it up to mess with his tiny 11 year old head. I have tried telling him it is like a code, or writing a mystery for someone to solve, but he just thinks I am delusional - I am sure some of you can relate to your own algebra lessons at school. I think it is something that either sets your world on fire, or you find it an exercise in futility when there is a simple answer to be had. Anyway he is sitting here with his hoodie over his head. So he can have a rest for a bit, but he is not getting out of this room without us being on Wednesday...... He has had all week to pretend to do the work, and he is incandescent that we no longer believe him that he will do the work if he is allowed to be up in his room.We are obviously utter monsters. Hey Ho! Waiting with bated breath for my membership badge of Monsters Anonymous UK.
I still use it with my 8 year old if I find the work set by school a bit dry. He loves it and will quite happily follow the bitesize explanation. Not sure if that's remotely helpful to you. But just thought I'd mention it in case it's not something you'd looked at.
That wasn't meant as a bashing post either. You are doing amazing.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hey, all ideas and help gratefully received in this corner of Le Shire! Not taken as bashing or criticism, it is a good idea. He is currently upstairs making 2 leg0 houses for some science project next week. I really want to have finished Thursday's work by bedtime tonight, as then he will only have Friday morning's stuff to do, as Friday afternoon is a kind of ' finishing up session' for the rest of the week's work, and he has done all of that now. With any luck we will be free of all of this by 12.00 tomorrow, ready to start all over again on Monday. Only 5 schooldays left until Half Term.Just knowing I do not have to do the 7.45 rounds making sure everyone is up and ready to learn, and that they can sleep on if they want to, is going to be lovely.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I'm crawling to half term too. I've got the benefit of mine are both at primary school and school aren't doing live lessons - no idea how we'd cope with that. So I'm cherry picking what they are doing a bit.

We use Mr Corbett to support our maths, he has a primary site and a secondary school site both sites have videos of him explaining and worksheets. The primary site has quizzes and the secondary has past papers. Most of this is irrelevant for DS4 at the moment but might help him in the future. You may find it useful to support the other boys as well.

I love maths, always did & I guess at my age always will. If 3a=9 then I agree with your DS that the answer is a=3. Unless of course the question is what is the value of 3a. They seem to be desperate for mathematicians , why on earth are they making it so difficult?
