To rely on an exam done in nov, for a grade for an exam normally sat in June is daft by the school. Surely they'll do other 'mock' exams...? Plus, Boris aint backing down yet about pupils sitting real exams is he... so we have to assume they'll still happen. Yet somehow plan for if they don't. Aaargh.
Hope the cakes turn out scrummy.

I do hope so apple, he needs to buckle down and do some work. He just does not seem to realise why we are annoyed by his lack of motivation. Not a happy household tonight..... and one of the cakes is STILL in the oven and it has not even set properly yet. So I have raised the temp by one setting, and hope it will be done in 20 minutes as I want to go to bed now. It does smell amazing though. The first one only came out of the oven 15 minutes ago, and I still need to don my imaginary Elf Hat and do the advent calendars. 3 hours is enough for any flippin cake to bake on a school night. Right, I am going to get ready for bed, do the calendars, and by then hopefully the cake will have behaved itself. Unless it really is supposed to be a squishy squidgy cake. Very strange.

Finally got to bed about 10 to midnight. So this morning they have been fed and bundled up and put into their storage tins.
I am trying to decide if I go for a wander this morning and have a look if any charity shops are open, after they have been closed for so long they should at least be covid secure!

What a fabulous idea! Not sure about giving a 10 year old brandy at 6am though.
No, he has not done his UCAS form as far as I know, no idea what course to do, just 'Engineering' which is what he decided when he was 9 as his best friend's dad was a car mechanic and told him he was an auto engineer. He mentioned something about studying in the city we live in, to keep costs down. Erm, get out there boy! explore the world! Lazy toad is too comfortable and too well fed. He just looks terrified if we try and pin him down and ask questions about 'his intentions'. Swively eyes and a trapped look, then he disappears off upstairs to hide.
Sadly all our lockdowns have also scuppered Uni visit days. Not that he will be going to Uni with Ds anyway.
DS2 is doing his PPEs this week, 6 done already, he does not even get his results until January. He says there are whole chunks of some of the papers he could not do as he has not been taught it. We have all the revision guides and books that you can buy to get them through their exams, but the knowledge does not come out unless they pick them up and actually read them. I am getting bored of the sound of my own voice.

I have just worked out I have overpaid the mortgage by just over £1200 this year. Which is at least 2 months off the term, to say nothing of the interest saved. Keep on swimming, keep on swimming.....
