For some reason people seem to have got 'bored' of the virus. Sadly it won't get bored of us. We now seem to be divided (this is obviously a sweeping generalisation) into people who are terrified of going out, and those that don't care anymore. The sensible lot in the middle are the ones who struggle to navigate the options.
Mind you, the govt. don't help by trying to get people 'back' to normal rather than having sensible discussions about long term changes that could improve the learning environment for kids (no morning school for teenagers...) and revitalise town centres (encouraging home working/coworking hubs) etc. Thankfully I've been home-based (with a lot of travel) for years, so I don't have to have the whole office/commute discussion.9 -

I have not lost any inches this week. None at all, and I am cycling between 12.0 and 12.1. So basically, I am dieting, but not losing weight, or rather I am dieting and losing 1lb every 10-14 days. Hormones suck. Baked apples, however, do not suck. I am not giving up. I am determined to get down to the 11's. On the plus side, I am not putting ON weight.I only ran twice last week, and they were both short runs. I need my running mate back. He is conducting an illicit affair with his duvet, and does not want to get up in the morning. We are utterly incompatible. He finally he got an appointment at the hospital about his shoulder for about 2 weeks from now. He is stressing about that now.I have £3 until Tuesday when the money hits my bank account.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Can you not take the duvet with you when you get up?13

A fool and his money are easily parted, but to get dh away from the duvet would take a crow bar.

My DH is the same. He loves his bed and sleep, and would quite happily stay there till lunchtime. He was worse before kids, and is getting worse again now the kids are older and can fend for themselves (they have realised they get extra cereal when they pour it themselves, so will merrily jump out of bed at 6.30am to avoid help)
I'm worried about school too. We have bubbles, but having four children means we are in almost every bubble in our school. Everyone I have spoken to recently seems to have the attitude they want to 'live' and will take the 'risk'. The problem is that most risks only affect the person. If I eat all the chocolate scones in the freezer (a possibility) I risk gaining weight. If I have a nut allergy and willingly eat something with nuts, its just me at risk. When all these other people decide to take the 'risk' they are putting other lives at risk, it might not be life-threatening for them, but for the high risk and elderly it is. It feels like a survival of the fittest approach. DH has done a lot of reading, from medical documents to personal accounts and a lot of people are saying similar to @greenbee, that we don't know the long term effects. A friend with usually similar opinions to me thinks its an overrated conspiracy. I am glad to be here, and reading this because I feel like I am in the minority to still care. Apart from a few exceptions we are basically still following lockdown rules. A friend is wanting to visit next week and I need to find a way to say no. I don't feel comfortable anyway, but I can see from her social media that she has been out every single day with her family, visiting different places and people, as well as working 2 jobs for the last two weeks. Awkward. I don't have any answers, but I will join you from my sofa with a cuppa.

Baked apples are the stuff of legend. You cut the core out of the apple, and at the half way mark, slice a very shallow line around the circumference to allow it to expand (sometimes it does to a hilarious extent) when cooking, then stuff the middle with any old dried fruit you have knocking about - mixed fruit with peel is especially good, and some cinnamon or allspice, or nutmeg, then bake for about 20 minutes at about 180, or whatever heat your oven is on cooking something else
The dried fruit soaks up all the hot apple juice and comes spilling out the top, sometimes like a volcano. Add any sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds, or whatever you have lying about you want to use up. It is a great recipe for kids, and they are good hot, cold, with cream/yoghurt/custard, whatever you fancy, and they keep in the fridge for 3 or 4 days after cooking with no ill effects. Go wild!
They are one of those ridiculously simple things that should never go out of fashion, but sadly have.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

You don't even have to peel them! They steam inside the skin. We tend to use cooking apples or tart apples but eating apples work just as well.
