I sometimes do a monthly shop and spend a day batch cooking to stock the freezer when I am being organised. Still need to go once a week to the shop to top up with things like bread, milk and snacks as it would be the same here - all biscuits would disappear. Unfortunately it is me that lacks the self control round junk!0

Just made a sneaky £250 o/p to the mortgage. So when the mortgage payment goes out tomorrow I will see the results by the 2nd or 3rd rather than waiting for the CB to come in and then waiting for the payment to show up. So hopefully this will be the start of paying myself first, well, paying the mortgage first anyway. Housekeeping in? Overpayment out!
Getting prepared for the Turtle February Cruise (we are pirates this month, join up if you can). Tomorrow all the bills go out, and I will buy some fruit and veg and then try not to spend anything except YS bits and absolute essentials for the next 28 days. I am going to re-evaluate after 2 weeks. It is also half term after two weeks and I need to think of some great free/low cost things to do. I really want to go away, but February is not a good month to go away in the UK. So I will save the money now so that I will have some to spend at Easter/ Whit/ Summer hols.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Foxy that's amazing! £250 is loads!
I was just catching up on your post from Sunday and I was surprised to hear you say that you can't transfer your kids CTFs to Junior ISAs. One of your 4 is the same age as my DS (8) I think, and I had no trouble doing a transfer. Also wasn't it £500 the children all got? I'm sure that's what my DS recieved. I think that some children were also supposed to get a top up on that based on family income. Might be worth checking it out of you can." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

The whole Child Trust Fund started about 1 month before DS1 was born and ended about 6 weeks after DS4 was born. I received a letter telling me what product we could switch to based on the product we took out - tbh they are not performing terribly well are they? but stocks and shares (the ethical plan) are always a risk. They have a long time to run, but we can't change them to a Junior ISA due to date restrictions. Well done if they changed yours, possibly down to the product/lender. Ours just got sold to yet another management company so they sent me all the bumpf in one hit. I feel so sorry for our postman. ***just checked online, and Forresters (the company our plans got sold to) DO indeed allow us to change to a Junior ISA! Nice one Bob! Thanks***
Made another sneaky overpayment to drop the mortgage down to £114,000 (how neat and tidy!) before DH's payment comes out. I want to check tomorrow to see if the daily interest has reduced any... I want it under £6 a day ASAP and under £110,000.
Was making some lists last night of free/cheap and fun things to do over half term (10 days and counting). Weather is the main restriction but they are NOT staying in and playing on DSs and Xboxes for a week.
Have to do a little bit more shopping today and then that is IT. The cards stay at home, what is in my pocket will have to do me.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Sneaky overpayment on the mortgage again this morning. Couldn't help it! Child Tax in tomorrow and Child Benefit in on Monday so after tonight's birthday meal for DS3 what is in my pocket is to do me until it runs out, and I am fully prepared to not touch my card again until well into the half term holidays.
The overpayment I just did was only £27.50 but it means the mortgage total is now.............£113,500:j4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

In further news......
I moved the heavy cast iron fireplace and mantel into the living room, evicted the hamsters from in front of the chimney and set them up as they will be when I excavate the chimney 'ole. They look really good!! Amazingly good. Great, I thought, everyone will love this, so I sat back with a cup of tea, to await the awe and amazement. DS1 came in.... what have you done with the hamsters he said. Did not notice the massive black cast iron thing that had a) appeared in the living room and b) disappeared from the hall. So I pointed the elephant in the room out to him, and he laughed his socks off that he had not noticed. Nevermind methinks, one out of five, every single one of them including DH had to have the fireplace pointed out to them, and each one only noticed the hamsters had moved.
I ask myself why I bother!! And then I answer myself, because no one else is going to and it needs doing!!!!!
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with you lot. At least you understand.
Anyway, it is GROUNDHOG DAY!!!!! and I only know that because it is DS3's birthday and today he is a mighty NINE years old. Happy Anniversary Bobarella as well!
So hopefully unless it all goes horribly wrong, we will do Pizza Express tonight and then on into Frugal Frebruary on the Turtle Cruise.
Happy morning all,4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
