We need to sort out a DNR for mum I think. In fact, I would not want her going into hospital without me or big sis by her side 24/7. Imagine the fear that would generate, with dementia, on your own... Thanks for the prompt x

Foxholes sorry I mostly lurk on your diary but just wondering is her GP aware that your stepgran doesn't want to go back to hospital? They can make a record of it (advanced care plan) so if someone gets called to her and doesn't know her she wouldn't just be packed off to hospital as default reponse. Thinking of something like weekend carers were concerned she had an infection and its an on call GP service. She could just be given whatever treatment is available for her to have at home. She would not have to worry about an ambulance arriving to take her to hospital as there would be official documentation. They would likely contact you as well as next of kin before leaving her at home but just gives more weight to her wishes rather than someone covering their back in heat of the moment if they thought she might just be confused from an infection and so refusing to go to hospital.
Glad you got the mortgage sorted, imagine you are glad to see the back of them.
Hi Sunshine, yes, everyone and his dog is aware she is never going back into a hospital ever again. The last 3 out of 4 times I have seen her have ended up with her in the back of an ambulance / with a GP saying if she does not go into hospital she will die. I will not override her decision and unless she is unconscious she is capable of saying no. Loudly and repeatedly. The carers' office will call me if she is in a bad way (or her mates will grass her up) and I will sit and hold her hand, but no more than that. It is what she wants.

Oh dear, saying she is a character seems to kind of understate it but suppose that description fits with all you have described of visits to her in the past. Am really missing the old emojis for posts like this though
My head is in holiday mode. There is a website, called Ready Camp who do static glamping tents with a small kitchen ( kettle, microwave, fridge, 2 hotplates) dining table, and beds - sleep 6. The only problem is the fear of the weather and having to entertain a bunch of grumpy kids in wet conditions. I know it is mad to even consider camping at Easter - what am I even doing?? But still, the idea is there. 7 nights in West Runton (North Norfolk) in April for £267 anyone? Maybe I am just going stir crazy? I have not been anywhere since October. I blame the YHA for sending me emails putting daft ideas into my head. Still quite fancy 4 nights in Snowdonia for £208 in July - I could go on the way to/from the boat from Ireland. I think I need to start diary planning. DS4 is off to Norfolk with school at the start of May. I need to start asking people who wants to come with me. If it means the older 2 want to stay home, then I can still take the younger 2. Not sure I could do the 6 hour drive down to Veryan in Cornwall in June for 7 days on the beach for £421. But I would love to. I just got the kids school holidays letter this week - maybe that is what is fluttering around inside my head. October half term is later than usual. Xmas hols start on the 18th!

Holy Carp! I have just worked out, in the last 4 years, from April 2016 til today, I have paid off £25,174 off the mortgage debt.
Not bad for a one income family. I also have £11k in the renovation budget. DH has £8k, so getting toward the £25k we anticipate needing for the extension. So, of course, I have the urge to do something silly. But I cannot. I am dieting. I am being sensible (yawn emoji). I am boring myself.....
The wind outside is howling! Kids ParkRun has been cancelled in the morning due to the danger of falling branches (waving tree emoji) I am not bothered as I know I have the money if the roof falls off. It kind of takes the excitement out of the Winter scare stories of weather. So batten down the hatches, it's getting a tad blowy out.

It is already vile out there - I foresee a sleepless night with grumpy cats that want to go out but then see the weather and change their mind so just run about the house at 4am instead...

We have a new roof ornament! One of the 3 tv aerials has come out of the brickwork and is waving at me! It is hanging on by a wire thing (technical term). It might fall off completely, it might not. Nobody is going near it until it stops blowing so hard - so not today. The most annoying thing about it is that it is the aerial for the tv in the kitchen (Growl emoji). So it is back to the radio while cooking and baking and prepping. It will hopefully only be the cost of a wire band around the chimney, to stick it back up, plus danger money, plus working at heights bonus, plus £70 an hour, ex VAT.
