well done on keeping DS2 Bday and Xmas separate. we run a flexible system where if they want two presents they can, but if they want a bigger single present they can do that. we have found that its friends and relatives who tend to lump them together. with no discernible increase in value

Happy birthday to your ds - it is my niece's birthday today as well, and I always make sure that she has separate presents for birthday and Christmas. Bless her, it's not her fault that she was born so close to Christmas. Hope that he's had a fantastic day being spoilt rotten with lunch and shopping.

He is having a marvellous time, presents, lunch out,shopping, gelato, home on the PS4 with his new games. Cake in the fridge, what more could a small boy ask for...(no, he can't have a pony!)
Did 2 hours at the foodbank this morning, going back for another 2 tonight then that is it until 30th.

Ok, that's that done for another year. It is DS3s birthday in 6 weeks. All over again !

Not really feeling festive yet. I am happy though. Foodbank was busy, normally busy, not extra crazy busy. We are only closed for one session, back open again next Monday.

I hope the kids are happy with what they get for Xmas. I really have stopped all the plastic tat and unnecessary nonsense. They have the main things they have asked for, and they will have a lovely meal on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day, but I want to stop the days and days of chocolates and excess we have fallen into. It is silly. The tv will still be full of great films, but the fruit bowl is also full, the fridge is full of veg, there is popcorn to be popped if we want it. But it is not going to go on from 24th until New Years Day. Not any more. It is only supposed to be one day! I am guilty of being sucked in to the whole consumerism nonsense bubble for the last couple of years. Not as much as many, but still, it is more than I am comfortable with.

There are 8 days left of this year. I am spending them looking at what is behind my motivations. What pushes my guilt buttons. What I can put in place to stop them.

Anyway, I am off to bed with my werewolves. I have things to do tomorrow that don't involve navel gazing.

Well that all went surprisingly well.

We were woken at 8am, they did the stockings and then when dh came down at 8.30 they opened their presents, then the poor man spent 4 hours trying to make the wifi work. The router died and was reset to factory settings, and dh can't remember any of the passwords, so we had to go back and use an old one, so finding the right old cables, old old passwords etc. making it talk to the modem. We suspect a power surge has knocked it out. Good job we kept the old one really.
Lunch was great, everyone has disappeared again, back to their lairs and xboxes and group chats with their mates. Some are building Warhammer figures.
Supper will be cold cuts and leftovers and pickles and the rest of the Christmas pudding which was from Herr Leedl and is as good as my homemade one. Can't wait for those to go ys!
Did the mammoth hour and a half in-laws phone call, it has been 48 hours since they last rang, but it is Xmas, so every single person must speak to every single other person in turn, lies were dutifully told (gift to ds4 has not yet turned up but it is ok, he is used to her). Anyway, they have their favourite daughter there, so they are happy, and she is talking about coming to visit us at Easter for a few days (she has a work conference in London), so that is something nice to go in the calendar. F-i-L is all booked up to go into hospital early in the New Year, so that will be done and dusted .
Just need to do DHs car insurance now, and the remortgage asap ( dh can only access his payslips online at work) and I am set for 2020.

I feel a building contractors' quotes coming on soon...

Thank you! The day did not end as well as it started, too much mucking around, a bonk on the nose, nose bleed, an older brother encouraging the smallest to try his hot chili sauce that made the poor thing vomit. Urgh! It all just went horribly wrong and ds3 and 4 were both in bed before 8.00.
Kids eh? no flippin' sense!

I only found out yesterday as my 20 year olds were reminiscing that one Christmas mishap 10 Years ago was caused by the kids using an unfavoured shower gel on their newly linod floors to create a skating rink.
