The dictionary definition of a 'Geek' is, according to http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=geek

    1. a peculiar or otherwise dislikeable person, esp one who is perceived to be over-intellectual.

    2. a computer expert or enthusiast (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders)

    3. a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid, or disgusting acts, such as biting the head off of a live chicken.

Origin - mainly Scots 'geck' = fool.

So not much on the positive side there, but there is an article here; http://downlode.org/Etext/geek.html which has a more detailed definition of both 'Geek' and 'Nerd' - neither of which are very complimentary.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

You can call me anything, I'm not so bothered to be honest. In fact I suspect I'm posting this to see what I'm called now!

I see now, someone said that having the names maniac and bonkers was insulting to people with mental health problems.

Maniac could only be insulting to those with a specific kind of mental illness - manias. Peanut is more generally insulting - it has the word "nut" in it.

Bonkers are those who bonk. Obviously.
