High vis stuff for dog walkers?

With the days getting shorter (boo, hissssss!) we're thinking about what stuff to get to help us be visible when taking our dog out in the evening for a walk. Any MSE recommendations please as to what to get and any particular make?
We've considered LED collars (any colour better than others? e.g. would red be better given it's used on traffic lights) and some reflective armbands for us. Anything else we should consider before parting with cash please? Worth mentioning we have a mix of roads by us, some with street lights plus pavements and some with neither.
Thanks

The beaded glass reflective strips lose a lot of reflectivity when wet. The encapsulated prismatic strips as used by police etc are much better.
Reflexite clothingA kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Hi vis Sam Browne belt for you.
I found getting the right thing for a black dog, who was of course totally invisible at night, was far more difficult than choosing something for a human. Settled on a flashing led light that attached to the ordinary collar.0 -
Ikea do good (cheap) hi-viz vests for people. My dogs have a collar that lights up as well as having a reflective stripe. I also have battery powered tags that attach to their collars. You can get hi-viz vests for the dogs too, they're cheap if you google them.0

we have hi vis jackets for the dogs as their coats are quite long so any sort of flashing/reflective collar gets hidden by fluff. We also always carry a head torch for poo pickupI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

We got our beagle an led collar from Amazon which we use as an additional collar so that he can be let off the lead when we walk him in the park. We've ordered it now as it comes from China but for only about £1.50 if it only lasts a winter then that will be ok.
As we walk with other dogs they all wear different colours so we know who is who.
He's also got a hi viz coat.0 -
Thank you all! Sounds like a high vis belt/vest for us and something similar plus a LED collar for our dog. Good point about a torch to pick up poo.0

Possibly a silly comment but remember to wear as much light coloured clothing as possible (yes, I know it shows mud and paw marks!) but it's also a lot safer if you are walking in dark places.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Not silly at all, my wardrobe is filled with dark coloured clothing and not much else;) Next time we're at the shops, we'll get some light coloured fleece tops etc.0 -
You can buy reflective jackets such as police etc wear. We live in a rural area with single track , unlit roads and no pavements and many people wear these jackets. Lidl sometimes have them, or an agricultural or builders merchant.
Having a flashing light on your back also helps to make drivers aware of you as they approach from behind.0 -
We have one of these

Solid light til the battery starts to die, then the light flashes so you know when to change them.
Really good, we've had ours a couple of years now.
You hang them pointing up and the light is off. Dog wears it pointing down and that switches it on.0
