I was going to post that they have them in Aldi at £1 too.:)
If you like it, a bag of muesli might be easier to pack. My DH always takes one on holiday (from Lidl) as it's his favourite then adds local fruit and yogurt.
P.S. This isn't in Spain otherwise we could buy it in Lidl when we arrived!0 -
I tend to take food as I have coeliacs disease and a nut allergy.
Things like rice (or pasta) are good as they take up little room and are light.
Herbs, seasoning etc is very useful otherwise your lunch may be bland.
Frozen meat well wrapped will be fairly frozen on arrival.
Cheese is an easy one
Porridge oats
Certain veg eg carrots, sweet potatoes0 -
Do people really still think you can't drink the water in European countries?0

It's perfectly safe to drink all over Europe but sometimes the taste leaves a lot to be desired, especially the desalinated stuffChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Desalinated water tastes awful from the chlorine dioxide and as it has higher levels than British water it can cause some people to suffer the runs.
Evee tried the water in Malaysia? It tastes like actual pool water!0 -

Same in Turkey. The water is perfectly safe to drink but the higher level of minerals compared to UK might lead to an upset tummy. So safe enough for cleaning teeth or preparing veg but best not to drink in large quantities (needed in high temperatures) and risk being ill on holiday.
What many people blame on the food and water as Turkish Tum is actually dehydration.0 -
Mainland Europe tap water is disgusting!
I have been on school exchange trips to France and Germany. Both families bought very cheap bottled water to drink and make hot drinks from. I think they paid over a £1 for 15 litres. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

That's a bit of a generalisation, some mainland and especially Southern European water doesn't taste that good but generally it's OK and tastes a lot better than -say- London tap waterChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

It still depends a little where you are, and there are variations within regions. I would assume none is really dangerous, but some is very different quality to what we're used to here.
My Catalan friends never drink the tap water in the coastal town where they have a holiday flat.
They used to not drink it in their home town, 2 hours inland from Barcelona, either. Following a new municipal water system about 4 years ago they do now, but said I might prefer bottled, as some locals still do. I started on the tap water, but am fairly certain it was the cause of my gurgley, gripey insides, as they settled down again when I resumed drinking bottled water only.
So, it's worth noting what the locals do, and recognising that 'unfamiliar' water, while not dangerous, can be unsettling to your own body's micro fauna!0
