Maybe its an age thing. I've been surprised how freely some young people call their friends bit*hes. But I can remember it being thought a terrible insult. Like B*stard which was a terrrible insult, but really its just having parents whose relationship hasn't been approved by the church, which makes no difference to me.

I think you are ignoring context here (I am saying this without malice, I am merely trying to be factual), the use of manslaughter in that particular joke is a reference to how deadly Chuck Norris (not me) is, because of his martial arts skills, he isn't just an actor, he was the karate world champion for 6 years.

I didn't know there was a real Chuck Norris. I wouldn't use someone else's real name as I would feel like I was trying to impersonate them.

I think most people will know who Chuck Norris is or at least heard of him, and that I am not a moderately famous American actor and ex world karate champion.

Get over yourself. If he had wanted to insult you he would have phrased it, "when you go to s*thorpe, are you putting the * into s*thorpe, I expect you are, because I think you are a *? And yes, just in case you take this as a bit of banter and a riff on the jokes you have put in your signature in relation to an adopted fictional persona, like 99.9% of the population would assume it, I do actually mean you personally are a *".

But he didn't phrase it like that did he. He didn't even suggest that you were going to Scunny or that you (or Real Chuck Norris) were actually the * that was being put in. Just that you or Real Chuck Norris was doing the putting in.

Incidentally, do either you or the Real Chuck Norris (tm) put your penis into "the pen is mightier than the sword"? For the avoidance of doubt, no, I did not really think about what you might practically do with your penis, or contend that you are a penis, it was just wordplay.

My ID is obviously a joke about the real Chuck Norris. You obviously know that because you even mention the internet meme about him yourself. I even told you that last night in a reply to you.

Yes it's obviously a joke. Just as the fact that s!!!!horpe has a rude word in it is a well known joke as well as being referenced in Wikipedia.

Yes, but Ed was saying that I put the 'c*nt' in Sc*nthorpe, i.e. saying that I am a c*nt! and to be honest I mistook him for someone else that had had a go at me earlier in the same day.

The change of signature seems symptomatic of the overly litigious society and precious snowflake brigade that everyone should now caveat everything they say to let us know whether things are jokes or not. Hopefully people will still have the balls to just keep on interacting normally.

Incidentally speaking of balls, did you know that each of Chuck Norris's balls were bigger than the other?

The "who put the * in s*thorpe" joke was around in the 80s. Sometimes prefaced with "If Typhoo puts the T in Britain, ...". The Typhoo T in Britain campaign was over 35 years ago.
