Ballroom dancing is great fun; take some classes together.

You live in Lancaster and are struggling for things to do.

some cracking pubs and food places,

theatre like the Dukes & the Lancaster Grand or the story

you could cycle the morecambe bay cycle route or just get out and go for a walk.

there are some great museums like Lancaster Castle or the Maritime Museum.

Agree 100%. I'm an exiled Lancaster Lad, and love the place when we make our one or two week visit every year. Either stay at Central Travelodge or The Strathmore at Morecambe.

While a few places might have closed down in recent years, there's still plenty of places to eat, drink, and be otherwise entertained.

Just a shame that Lancaster has been overrun by the demands of a monster University, and is often little more than a one-way traffic jam.

We have children, but they are getting older and we try to escape them!

Join a local amateur theatre group, join a local amateur orchestra/band/music group ( some will teach you to play, or have some lessons together ), join a book club or start one up, join a walking/rambling group. find a dance or exercise class you can both attend.

Do you have a particular interest? DH likes old cars, and joined an enthusiasts club, so now we go to evening and weekend meets.

we go to concerts, theatre, cinema and out for meals too.

My hobby is Geocaching - DH tolerates it as long as a decent walk/pub is involved! That gets you out and about!

We are rural too, so do have to travel to do some of these things, but they get us out and about, and meeting new people and having fun.

It's Heritage Open days next week. There'll be plenty of free activities going on in Lancaster and Morecambe to enjoy...

Well, if you like comedy then participation in the local Labour Party could be quite fulfilling ATM! Lancaster has a particularly dynamic party branch...

Join a choir? Various studies have shown singing in groups to be very good for both your mental and physical wellbeing.

With autumn coming make loads of sloe gin? Good walks potentially involved, some time in the kitchen and then time on the sofa drinking!

I'm on Android and use cgeo. The offline functionality is good for remote spots.

The app itself is free (be careful as some unscrupulous apps charge you for the app but you don't actually get the full membership). We do have 'premium' membership which is around 25 quid per year but we do use it alot. However most caches are non-premium so you will be able to see them for free anyway.
