What do couples do to have fun?

its a bit of a weird one really, ive spent most of my life paying off debts and existing. im sure im not the only one to fall into the trap of coming home from work and just watching tv in the evening. but my husband and i would like to start doing things together to have fun- like other couples do, although im a little unsure of what that is! we are 30s-40s without children and everything i look at to do is for families/great for kids type activities. what im really asking is what do adult couples who have no kids do to have fun?

We used to go out to restaurants but where we live a lot have been closed for the past 6mths due to floods and our local pub has stopped doing a pub quiz. I have been trying to read more but its not something we can do together. i was thinking of maybe going to have afternoon tea or wine tasting. I would prefer activities away from children as much as possible.

i want to stop sitting in and watching tv and do something fun! any suggestions?

(it doesnt have to be thrifty things to do!)

Me and he jump on the bikes and race each other

He's fit, I'm not, it's mad and childish and a good laugh

We also play games. All sorts from the wii, online pool, to table tennis

Btw,we are in our 50's. Obviously heading into our second childhood

We also turn up at everything that's happening in the community. I never knew going on a car rally ( charity event) would be much fun but we had a fantastic day. We go watch ploughing comps, tractor pulls, whatever is happening we will rock up to

Obviously I live in a rural area, but pop into the library or look in the local papers to see what's happening in your area

Dance classes are also very popular and don't cost an arm and leg.

We just get out there and join in.

We are in our 40's...well one of us is lol oh is just hit 50. Anyway we go to concerts, Go and see comedians, Eat out, Local "events" such as this week we have had a "Regatta" what ever that is...basically a fun fair with live amateur music from all ages (Very high quality) fast food type vans ect, Next week there is an air display just a few miles away which we will go and see, Trips to see shows ect and also all the "free stuff" like walking the dog in nice places such as nature walks and canal walks, We also pick fruit like blackberries ect when walking the dog in the countryside.
Apart from that we don't do anything lol.

They make children (or at least practice making children)! :rotfl:

One godparent goes lindyhopping, another to cookery classes (yum, artisan chocolates) but heavens yes, drop in on your local library & ask what's happening.

If you specify child-free or -lite, they can still help.

Me, I'd be looking at whiskey tasting classes...

Me and the OH go to a couple of local clubs in our interest. We also do mini breaks abroad (can get a weekend for under £200 for both of us and we both love to travel, and its usually cheaper than staying in the UK), and have an active interest in some specialist bits and bobs.

Bike rides, country walks, geocaching, join a quiz team, chess club, bridge, visit national trust places, caravaning, buy a share in a narrow boat, hang out doing wheelspins in McDonald's car park, swinging, dogging

Just a few that came to mind, depends what sort of thing you like really

Before my late husband became disabled, we went to the pub (occasionally), went out for meals, went to the cinema and theatre, went to gigs, did some sighteseeing/book/ junk shopping and talked to each other - exactly as we'd done when we were younger.

Me & OH go out on photography days just take ourselves, our cameras and a lunch and wander round London or wherever. We go to museums a lot and love the British Museum.

We go to airshows and spend days out at air bases taking photos of aircraft (i'm a plane geek and dragged him into my world hehe)

We go to gigs, festivals and out for meals

We love people watching together just going to a cafe for a coffee and watching the people around us

We play board games especially monopoly though I'm not allowed to be the banker any more as apparently I cheat

We play on the PS4 or XBox against each other

Sometimes just taking the dogs out to the country park and having a good chat about everything and anything is a good way to pass sometime
