Ally hope the cars not too pricy.

We managed to not spend any unbudgeted money in nearby town. We did buy one gift and some undies for DD but came from gift and clothes budget. Also because I had some cash on me, our bank account is actually higher than it was this morning as I moved the money over.

I also took the opportunity to park in a green space meaning I got to charge my hybrid for free on their electric :D

Ate leftovers for lunch :o so tea will be a new meal inspired by veg box. Is also vegetarian so cheap all round. There will be plenty left over for lunches too I'm hoping.

Just enjoying watching olympics whilst not at work :D

The car has passed the MOT! She just needed three new tyres. Phew. It must be 15 years since I had a car pass right away. Just one heart-stopping moment when the car randomly over-heated under the strain of the emissions test and the mechanic muttered words like "engine" and "radiator" and I thought I might actually cry. :o

So £214 all in and they only took 3 hours which was also a relief. Usually we'd be without the car for a couple of days for an MOT.

Did well with the tyres. Asked for three of the cheapest and was promised that. Then the garage realised they only had one cheap one and two dearer ones. So they supplied
one cheap one and two dearer ones at the price of three cheap ones.

I had £225 put by so we're ordering a mini takeaway to celebrate and I have half a glass of wine to soothe my shattered nerves. :rotfl:

Came home to find £3 of M&S vouchers from a loyalty scheme on the doormat. We'd just walked past M&S in town. On the positive side, by my calculation, we'd only earned £1-worth.

OK, feeling more positive now I've taken domestic matters in hand! So here are today's money saving achievements:
*Leftovers for lunch & there will also be leftovers for dinner.
*PIcked a big colander of produce from the garden - chillies, courgettes, squash, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions, lettuce & herbs.
*Did a bit of fridge triage & wrote meal plan for this week based on all of the above, leftovers & basically spending as little as possible. I shan't actually need to buy anything to make any of the meals I've chosen, but will need a few bits & bobs for packed lunches as well as cat food, so felt mentally strong enough to tackle the.......
*....grocery budget update. It was very heavily front loaded this month as we had guests staying for a long weekend. I've got it straight now. £93 left until new budget (which starts on 27th Aug) so with a very careful little top-up shop tomorrow only, there should be enough for 2 further careful & sensible grocery shops for the rest of the month.
*Did quite a few surveys. Enough to cash in my Ipsos points for next voucher :-)
*Paid last grocery shopping bill off mr f's M&S card. We only do this with planned purchases, pay it off within the next 2 or 3 days, to maximise points for vouchers. Postman brought £5 of these this morning. It's a useful little source of income, as long as you can be strong & pay off instantly to avoid interest charges &/or adding to debt.
*Updated 2 longer survey projects I was recruited for. I really hope I will stay with it to the end stages so I get maximum points.
*Knitted a small amount of B-in-Law's Christmas gift. Will cast on the 2nd half of Mum's tonight.
    *Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Peeled, sliced & blanched 5 big carrots for the freezer as they were threatening to go manky & are not going to be eaten this week. Used up a fossilised lemon in the dressing for the tabbouleh salad I've made for tonight.
*Surprisingly sold an ebay item.....it's been listed umpteen times but this was its time! Packed in recycled brown paper ready for posting tomorrow.
*Did a load of laundry overnight on cheap tariff, then another full price one to make use of the fabulous drying weather. I've managed to get 5 sets of bedding dry for free since the weekend. Washer set on timer for final load overnight (it's half price at night time on our Economy 7 tariff)
All I need to do now is water the veggie garden thoroughly.....they've had a splash but it's not enough after a couple of days of warm drying winds, so they will need a good drink tonight.
Hope everyone has had a decent day. Good news about the MOT, Ally.
    Cheers all,
    F x

    Evening all :)
Thanks to Legomum for starting us off :)
    Today I have:
    Checked banks
Pegged a load of washing on line first thing, as I wanted to get it dry before it rained - it hasn't rained, but it has dried :T
    Washed another load
    Tidied spare room and ensuite
    Posted an ebay sale :)
    Listed some more items
Been to sales unit and restocked / swapped stock. Amazingly, a few bits had sold :T
Bought a few bits at Iceland while I was out. Salad leaves in the garden have gone a bit tough and stalky, so I had to buy some :( first purchase for a couple of months. Also needed a cucumber, as the garden ones are still tiny (baby cucumbers look very cute) :)
Used the tough stalky lettuce leaves in what I call 'kitchen garden soup' - also uses courgettes and tomatoes :T I will need to buy some pesto to jazz this up
    Watered French beans
Made a frittata for dinner, which also used courgettes, tomatoes and various bits of leftovers from the fridge :T
    A few surveys for onepoll
Sold 2 more ebay items :T
Still got to do the washing up!

Foxgloves must be the day for it. I sold a box of Yu Gi Oh cards today for £9 that had been on for ages.
