When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning all
I got back from the caravan late last night so loads of washing to do which I'm hoping to get dry on the line! I want to try and have a really good sort out this week and gather stuff together to do a carboot either this weekend or next.
Other than that, just the usual things, FPL, Lucky Phone, swagbucks, etc.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning
Thanks for the start Legomum so glad the party went well yesterday. Good luck getting through the rest of your list.
We dont have any big plans today. Probably park again. Keeping holiday spends low.
Adopting the brace position for when the extra large mortgage payment goes out today though. Yuck. All because the surveyor entered the wrong value. Apparently we will get a rebate once this mess is sorted but until then thats another £300 out of our pocket today
Have a good day all

Morning all,
Lovely long weekend with guests. Now I need to get back to normality. Today's efforts will be based around 3 things:
1. Tackling the laundry mountain
2. Picking everything which is ready to eat in the veggie garden
3.Knocking up a meal plan for this week based on the above, weekend leftovers & the freezer
Better get started.
Best wishes for a money saving week ahead.

Waiting for car to be MOTd. I'd rather have a filling at the dentist. I hate that "waiting for a verdict" feeling, really plays havok with my "nerves". If we had better public transport in this area I'd give up the car with pleasure. Anyway, I've agreed to three new tyres and I've checked the car over and I can't find anything else wrong with it but I just know it won't pass. If it does pass there'll be a party in our house tonight. I'll pay on the credit card so we can get loyalty points for our spending. Then repay the debt immediately.
Anyway, what else is going on at Dowd Towers today?
* Currently in the library waiting for the verdict on the car. Resisted allegations from the librarian that I owed 50p for a reservation. I haven't made a reservation! At least I can't spend any money in here! Meanwhile DW is walking around secondhand car dealerships. I do hope she doesn't fall in love with anything. She is due some money in a few months but, even so, I don't think we can afford two vehicles.
* Ate a hearty breakfast before going out to GarageLand to stop us wanting snacks.
* DW and I browsed around Curry's to pass the time. Sooner or later we'll need a new Humax Freeview Recording box as I've repaired ours numerous times. One thing's for sure, I'm not paying £135 for a new one!
* Examined tv remote control. The volume down button isn't working. However the Humax Box remote volume down button still works so we'll have to just use that one instead. It's a bit of a pain but we need every penny just now.
