Do you keep details of your accounts anywhere (in the event of you dying for example)

My Mum knew where to find everything and knew exactly how much i had, after she died i gave my Sister all the information. People said to me at the time i was making a mistake, but i told them i trusted her 100%. How wrong i was. It cost me a lot of money.
Now there is nobody that knows how much and where to find it. I do worry about it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Well, thanks for that cheery thought.
You are right though.0 -

It's disgusting when you can't even trust your own relatives.
Note: I'm not saying you're out of order here, i'm just saying when you have a situation like that it's really quite sad.0 -
Like others my wife has no interest in financial affairs providing she has no restrictions on her spending (which is not extravagant).
I keep account details in spreadsheet while values are in Quicken database and she knows their passwords.
I don't keep passwords in a file as I think the incorrect use of those by inexperienced user (wife) is likely to give more problems.
When providing her with a document (only to be opened etc) I realised that her credit card(s) were all on my accounts which theoretically, at least, she shouldn't use after my demise so we have now opened a credit card in her own name to avoid problems of not having functional credit card.0 -

I also ignore the advice and use the same few passwords for everything and my wife knows them ( as I know hers). Should be very easy to deal with in the event of anything unexpected.
Using the same passwords everywhere is a terrible idea. DONT do this!0 -

Some years ago I was asked by the family/beneficiaries to check the online gaming accounts of a friend to see what balances, if any, were there (I had more experience of that 'world' than they did!). I knew some of the access details and I was provided with some others. The information was then passed back to the family to deal with in the normal way.
That was the last I heard so I don't know if any problems arose. Someone on here questioned the legality of doing this I think.
I'm beginning to think that passwords etc are not that important when someone dies as everything done by the executors has to be by post. Is that a reasonable thought?
The main factor for someone on their own (as I am) is sudden death.
That has to be catered for - by bank account details etc on a memory stick maybe?
A Life Book is also a good idea. To say who inherits the Rolls Royce etc.
