Sky movies from now tv

I've just added the movie package to my sky bundle for £18 a month.

My friend informed me I could have got a tiny now box & 2 months sky movies for £25 & then 3 months movies for £25 a time.

Would the user experience be different?
Sky is so easy - I'm guessing the films wouldn't come through my sky box, could I record them & watch when I pleased?

Does the little now box need to be connected to the tv or the sky box?

My Tv is mounted on the wall with the cables channeled in & filled & painted over, so adding anything extra to the tv isn't easy....

Now TV Sky Cinema is provided over the internet, so you'd need an ethernet cable or wi-fi.

HD is not available nor is it possible to record the films to your Sky decoder.

The box would of course need to be connected to your TV.

However, you can still view "On Demand" so recording the films won't be strictly necessary if you want to view at a later date.

You could disconnect the hdmi cable that's in the sky tv box and plug it into the Now TV box.

You don't need a now tv box to access it, you can access Now TV if you have a console and download the app.

Just a thought but what make and model is the TV ?

    I don't have a console

    It's a pioneer - it's about 8/9 years old

Unlikely to be a Smart TV that old.

That assumes the OP is past the minimum term with Sky and can cancel the whole service with one month's notice.

No, it's not a smart tv. It's hdmi though.

Yes I am past the contract, but I like the format of sky, the way it works, the user experience. I am prepared to pay a bit extra to keep that familiar usage.

That won't give you HD Sky Movies from Now TV. You can, though, get a HDMI selector if you want to connect multiple devices and the TV doesn't have enough connections.

I'm assuming you get Sky Movies in HD as well? If that is the case then your mind is already made up.

You might want to angle for a reduction in your Sky subscription (as you are out of contract). This can be achieved by cancelling and then waiting for Sky to make offers for you to stay.

I'm not that bothered about the whole HD thing.
I mentioned the HDMI cable so you would know the connections.

If the picture quality is not an issue then I strongly recommend NOW TV as the most money saving option.
Your only connection "difficulty" is that the decoder needs to be connected to the internet. This can be achieved with an Ethernet cable or over your Wi-Fi.

Saying Sky's delivery and format is preferable to saving hundreds of pounds a year is frankly astounding.

You'll soon get used to any differences with the EPG and the remote control.
