I just made choc chip cookies from a recipe on the recipe board and they are truly awful. It said on the recipe to use a tablespoon of baking powder (which I thought was a lot) and that is all you can taste. Yuk Yuk need to put them in the bin I'm afraid as I feel ill after eating a part of one.

OMG:o :o:o:o I think you must mean this recipe http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=1550357&postcount=322 Aaagh !! I'm truly sorry, I haven't made it for ages (I thought it was a bit heavy to tell the truth) I haven't got the original recipe any more to check but I must have meant 1 tsp of baking powder not 1 tbsp :o:o:o sorry, sorry, sorry. If anyone has a copy of The Dinner Lady cookbook and could check I'd be grateful. If not I'll delete the recipe.

Meanwhile try Twink's Hob Nobs p://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=5392570&postcount=4 they are lovely and definitely work :)

Well, 15g is a tbsp  as I said I don't make them anymore as I've found much better biscuit recipes elsewhere. Anyway, sorry again and please don't judge all my recipes by this one -the chocolate fudge pudding is really good -honest :D

I made a yoghurt cake for my daughter's first birthday (recipe from an Annabel Karmel book). I filled it with strawberries and cream and it looked great. But when we came to eat it, it was greasy and solid. We ended up scraping the cream and strawberries off and just eating them.

I made one for my sons 4th birthday.. shaped like a space ship and it was also inedible.. BUT I spent the entire day sobbing.. not only had I found out I was pregnant the day before, I was rather hormonal hubby decided he didn't want 3 children and was on about leaving.. all in all the whole day was a disaster.. but the cake recipe was torn to shreds and burnt in another hormonal moment.

Delia's rice pudding - she puts an egg in it and it makes the texture really weird.

Oh and I can't get scones to rise to save my life.

Oh, is it permitted to add a long ago childhood memory?
So, come with me to Wellington Zoo, N.Z., having bag of Mummy's fairy cakes grabbed by chimp, who nursed it possessively, extracted one cake, sniffed it, nibbled, then screaming in rage tore off the icing and hurled cake back?
My mother, newly married, was also famed for having made rock-cakes(you sense where we're headed)that two 'chooks' broke their beaks on.....
