Experts - chocolate teapot

Options
What use are experts?

Let's take for a random example RBS!

Made a massive loss, just reported.

They've made losses for the last seven years!

They must be run by experts, or complete no hopers. Which is it?

Would you trust anyone of their chief executives with your finances?

Could you do a better job - probably, you couldn't do worse own could you?

Cheers fj

I think you are being unfair, they have to appear to be doing something whilst they await their Knighthoods from their chums in Parliament.

Besides they would all flee the country and get top jobs in America or elsewhere if they weren't rewarded with over inflated salaries.

Banks all over the world are crying out for our failed bank executives so that they can fail there as well. ;)

The zeitgeist appears to be that the general public shouldn't listen to the experts because they can probably do better. It seems this is now being attributed to all experts of any persuasion. Perhaps the whole concept of education is bunkum and we should all rely on spiritual inspiration and intuition.

Evolution is just a theory after all... and so is gravity.

There have always been mismanaged companies and there always will be. That has nothing to do with experts.

RBS made a profit. Only became a loss when other items were added in like PPI costs. Having said that, I could see years ago that PPI was a complete rip off.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Both evolution and gravity are facts, not theory

In Newtonian physics perhaps but no current day physicist would refer to gravity as anything other than a theory.

Put simply, it is an idea which may account for what we witness in the universe around us. There are a number of areas where our idea of what we call gravity does not really seem to work (probably the best known of these is in wormholes but there are many others).

The theory is constantly evolving as we learn more and it is this increasing understanding of our world and universe which makes our lives so exciting.

As for evolution (biological), I will let someone who knows more than I comment.

If the greatest expert in the world went to bed tonight and didn`t wake up, someone would take their place tomorrow.

It always amuses me when the old mantra comes out from these people:
"if we didn`t pay big bonuses to these "talented" people they would leave and move abroad". (let them, call their bluff)

These are the talented people that broke banks and the country in 2008.
