  • Thank you very much to elsiepac and suffolk lass for the butternut recipes - very much appreciated. I have had a few spends, yesterday being the biggest, £11.99. Am still on target, but its gradually creeping up. Hoping not to spend until next Tuesday, if I do it will just be on some dairy free cheese, amounting to about £4.50 for 2 packs. Happy budgeting people. Have updated sig.

Hi all. Had planned to have a NSD today, but needed a couple of things which had run out so decided to go today instead. Went to Tesco for the bits I can't get at Lidl (am going to look again at these and try and find Lidl similar products) and then on to Lidl for the main bulk of the shopping.

I am away this weekend to London with DD. We are going to see Wicked! and Panic at the Disco in concert and all spends are from money we have saved in a different budget. Have stocked up on a few bits for the boys while we are away, so they wont need to buy anything (other than what treat stuff they buy out of their own money), so should mean that from 17th-21st will be another 5 NSD's which I will count on my return:)

    Spends so far:

    1st - Tesco - £44.18
    2nd - Lidl - £35.45
    3rd - Sainsburys - £8.70
    3rd - Tesco - £51.67
    4th - NSD
    5th - NSD
    6th - Lidl - £17.97
    6th - Sainsburys - £7.94
    7th - NSD
    8th - One Stop - £1.00
    8th - One Stop - £1.30
    9th - NSD
    10th - Lidl - £20.83
    10th - Tesco - £5.68
    11th - NSD
    12th - NSD
    13th - Lidl - £11.58
    14th - NSD
    15th - NSD
    16th - Lidl - £26.05
    16th - Tesco - £17.51

    So total spend so far : £249.86/£400 (£150.14 remaining) and 8 NSD's.

With one, possibly two small shops after I come back, it is looking like I will come under budget this month:)

    Dinner tonight:

Roast Chicken/Beef/Gammon (all cooked meat from freezer)
Yorkies, stuffing, veg (needs using up) and gravy.

    Have a great week x

  • Jammie dodger, hope you don't mind me asking, but where did you get your tickets for wicked from? And, if it's not too cheeky, how much did you pay? Mum wants to take me away for my 30th to see wicked in London, but it's a bit pricey (I've offered her the £200 I unexpectedly came into, but she's not keen on spending too much regardless of who pays).

In other news, went to pick up the click and collect items to be told they're not there. They were supposed to be there 2 days ago! While there I got the pitted dates, which were £1.99 or 2 for £2 so I got some ground almonds. And I got a few other pieces for Sunday, to then be told my parents aren't coming for Sunday dinner after all. Good job i chucked that chicken in the freezer and didn't get a cauliflower. Spent £9.89. Got 2 coupons at the checkout, one for cards, which I don't need, so will discard. One for Ben and Jerry's, which is not a "need" but there is an offer on, so if this specific ice cream is on offer and I have my coupon I might indulge.

When my click and collect actually arrived I won't detour into the food shopping!

Elsiepac, you should be proud you keep posting this time. Is there a reason for the overspend? Mine is usually fearing running out of something - I couldn't drive and we are rather cut off here. Perhaps you need to increase your budget a bit?

    Total £105.99/200.

Things are completely out of control. This is why I tend to stop posting halfway through the month, because I go over and all hell breaks loose! At least this time I'm keeping track!

elsiepac don't beat yourself up! I'll be over this month and I was last - but the important thing is that I can now see where it is all going wrong.. You might need a bigger budget - perhaps set yourself a coffee budget so it doesn't come out of GC? I can see YS reductions push me over the edge so for the time being I only glance a them ....

£16.20ish (lost the receipt but it was around that figure) in groceries today, needed eggs, avocados, oatcakes and a few more bits and bobs, and as DH was with me he asked for oat buscuits too, so in the basket they went, of course!

Also £24 spent treating DS to dinner out at a Persian cafe, nice enough but it used to be much better and cheaper, now it is not as good as before and prices have gone up. But it was worth it to spend time with my lovely boy. We agreed that the next time we meet just for tea. He likes my cooking best, so I will cook at home for him instead,it's a better treat. Different budget so not counted in the GC figure. But I am going to be very careful from now on!

I have a sainsbugs voucher that will give me 7p off each lt of fuel if I spend £15 in toiletries, including toilet paper. I will have to stock up on it soon, so that's £15 less from the food budget, leaving me £30 for fresh stuff for the rest of the month.

I like the money off fuel vouchers because joined with the nectar points they allow me to get fuel at less than a quid per litre. It seems money well spent/saved.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
