hello all,
I hope you are all doing better than me this month! I'm afraid i'm about £30 over. I've just lost track of my spending, and I'm throwing out too much.
My aim this next month is to plan more, set a budget which is a little higher (more realistic!) and finally empty out my freezer so I can defrost it!
Anyway, onward to October!2025 goals

last week I was ten pounds over after trying the veg box so this week I am going to try and regain the ten pounds and will stick to the Aldi super six, not got much in the cupboards or freezer so I really need to make a plan and stick to it this week. Just done an online shop for £41 - didn't manage to get everything but I will pop into Aldi with a strict list and hopefully stick to me reduced budget this week. Things have been helped considerably by my husband bringing back some unused food from scout camp - always a bonus!0

£40 gone on shopping over the weekend - I think. Well, that's what I gave the girls to go to the market with, and I haven't seen any change yet!
I've been looking after my Mum, who's just come out of hospital, and working today, so I'm not going to stress that I've gone a bit over the original budget of £520. There'll be a little more spent before payday on Friday too, on fruit & bread, but I'll be refilling the freezer with blackberries, apples & quinces rather than spending the rest of the budget.
Mum is far from well as yet, so I may have to bow out of next month's challenge; life's just too unpredictable. However I'm working less, so will have more time, and we're down to 6 human inhabitants most of the time now. But we've gone up by one feline... when DS2 was sharing a house with a friend, the friend acquired a kitten & DS2 helped to raise it. Said friend has just had to move to accommodation where pets aren't allowed... so the ex-kitten has come to us until DS2 & TDiL find a place of their own. Which they can now afford to do! But there's not a lot available at this time of year... sigh!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
I'm over budget.
I have spent £233 this month so far.
On a positive note, I did get some stuff whilst it was on offer-we don't need it now, but will need it n the next month or so and it probably won't be on offer then. So it's still money saving...and it is. Five week month as ours started on 26th August.
Even though I've bust the budget, I have cut it in half from my usual spends.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

Oooh, oooh, oooh! I've just been handed a crisp £20 note, change from the girls' trip to the market yesterday. So that brings us back down under the original budget, with a little room for fresh fruit & bread; we're clean out of bananas. 5 days to go, £14 left in the budget, but plenty of food in the store-cupboard, the freezers & even the garden; the autumn raspberries are going strong just now, the blackberries, apples & crab apples too, the older "girls" are back in lay after the moult and there's even the odd courgette still appearing... no excuses!
P.S. A note of appreciation here to my darling daughters - they both knew I was doing this, and have been very much on board, and helped whenever they could, and particularly when Mum became ill, their help was invaluable in keeping on track. Our menfolk seem pretty much unable to make any connection between the amount in the bank account and the amount & quality of the food on their plate, for some reason - it's not for lack of trying!Angie - GC Aug25: £207.73/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
