Had a great weekend at the housewarming- cooked Sunday bbq style lunch for nearly 70 people. This cost around £2 a head which I was quite pleased with as I'd chosen quite nice meat. Also cooking for lots of visiting relatives- 8 for dinner on Saturday, 8 for Dinner on Sunday, 7 for lunch yesterday and 4 for the rest of the week. I have stuck to my meal plan though and tried to keep waste down which has mostly worked well. (I have a tendency to excessive portion sizes! :D)

Spent around £48.78 in sainsby yesterday. Quite pleased with this as I'd normally spend around £70, and there were some cleaning things in that as well as some items for relatives - innoc*nt juice at £3 per bottle . Have told OH not to get too used to it.

Things are calming down a bit here and the in laws have departed so hoping for several nsds later this week. :T

    Happy Tuesday to you all.
  • Been a bit AWOL since I last posted at the beginning of this thread. Life as always...
So far from 25/8 to day have spend £108.63, have £31.37 left to last for the next two weeks to 24/9/16.

I think that it can be done - should in reality be just fruit & veg, as there is enough of everything in the fridge, freezers and store cupboards.

On stay-at-home holiday this week, so in theory we should be able to meal plan for this week. Reality is very different, trying to get DH to even think about a meal plan is a mission in itself.

    Hope are all well.

I have just placed an order with Appro**d Foods, my first since November 2012. I used to order quite regularly but found I was stocking up on biscuits, choc and treats rather than real food. Also didn't used to go for 'in date' produce so the penguin bars were a bit white in colour and the children refused to eat them!

This time I went for things for the store cupboard - heins soup, noodles, sauces etc. These bit will be added to my shop - I too have had a second purse running for a number of years - so I have the money available. Should see us through this tight period whilst DH is out of work.

Spent £1 on milk yesterday and 29p on YS rolls for our burgers for tea this evening.

Have a slightly frightening £14.66 remaining of the budget till the 26th and need to buy a few bits tomorrow.

It might still be possible. Will definitely try my best.

  • added £15 that's been spent to date. £10 needs to go today on toddler supplies, £1 on milk and £1 on yogurt plus 78p on wheat bran. Pay day is now next Thursday so it's almost here! Should have enough not to get through to payday for sure - still got loads of meat in the freezer to use up. I think I'm going to throw a couple of chicken dishes together and freeze them as homemade 'ready meals' to have on hand

So, managed to spend another £46+ in Mr T on Monday, all because OH fancied fish and chips for tea - not on meal plan or in freezer...grrrr! While in there decided to use the opportunity to replenish other essentials and get washing liquid (almost out) and lunchbox bits. Really need to do more shopping at Lidl, would have been half the price, but we were parked there for a club so seemed daft to drive 3 miles to Lidl then another 2 home....... Also topped up my parent account with £30 for school dinners, although only gave the kids a fiver each for now - the more they have, the quicker they spend it lol! Anyway, will update sig next, but good news is I logged my second NSD yesterday!
