Project Mortgage Neutral Begins

Not only have I set and signed up for a challenge but the sponsorship is going crazy too. I will be walking 100 miles between 10-20 December for a charity close to my heart and it appears others too. It is going to be tough going and will require a lot of willpower but so long as nothing extra comes in for work I think I should be able to complete it. It will be a great focus for my own mental health and keep me going during this extra week off.

I shall watch with interest!I am trying my best not to get overwhelmed by the craziness of it, so long as I keep putting one foot in front of the other and focus on that rather than the whole total I can do it. I also need to remember I don't need to do the 9-10 daily miles in one go, 3 walks just over an hour sounds easier than going out for a 3 hour one. I set a £200 target and am already up to £87.11! I am intending on adding something personal on my social media each day to try and help breakdown barriers so am going to plan those today.I am off out for a curry today as a work management lunch, all complying with our restrictions - tables of 2 and 3 as we are still at 2 households for eating out. Luckily we all get on well with each other, an hour of awkward conversation would be horrible. It will be the first human interaction for me for 3 days other than the odd hello exchange with people while out for my walk yesterday.

Today is day 4 of my walking challenge and so far I have covered 31.47 miles. Yesterday's was tough in the constant rain and today doesn't look like it is going to be much different. I am heading out to the supermarket soon to get the weekly shop in and then I will go out for a 5 mile walk. I was hoping to fit a swim in too but it quite overwhelming trying to do everything so I will probably head along to say hi as it is one of the guys birthdays and then head off on the second walk of the day.Still no decorations up and I am wondering whether to bother or not at the moment although the challenge finishes next Sunday so I will have more time after that.MFW 2026 No. 7 £400/£5000

We used to put ours up the weekend before Christmas but these days it depends when our Son is available to put the outside lights up with DH (he usually does the tree with me but he isn't allowed indoors at the moment so I will be doing it some time this week. I did make a wreath yesterday but instead of the 2 hours I arrived, it was more like 4! Not my thing normallySave £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. My tree is up and anything that lights up, I forgot how much warmth the soft lights give me. Everything else I got down from the loft is still scattered around my living room so I will need to deal with that soon.I am thinking of making myself a Christmas box for Christmas eve. A new pair of pyjamas, a bar of chocolate, maybe even a new book (a physical one not a kind!e one) but it will involve going to the shops so I will have to think about it a little more! I have a week until our schools finish so I have plenty of time.MFW 2026 No. 7 £400/£5000

That's a great idea - I might have to copy you. I will need warm socks or a new water bottle cover in mine. I have started to really enjoy reading physical books again!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
