Wouldn't it be great if there was a competition organiser who could come here and tell us whether they actually do take any notice of this rubbish? Do they read it and laugh? Do they just use a random process (Copy all the names into Excel and generate a random row number would be the simplest)? Or do they sometimes pick one that they might be able to use in publicity?I need to think of something new here...0

I expect it varies from one organiser to another. I have occasionally run a comp as a blogger and if I ran one on my facebook page I'd ask a specific question and anyone writing a load of tosh instead of answering it would be disqualified. But then I'm a mardy cow and some pages probably like the gushing. I've certainly seen a few sob stories win.2018 - £562 2019 - £130 2020 - £276 2021 - £106 2022 - £1400

Much to my surprise I saw a FB comp to win a very low key prize had attracted some 'sobbers'. The tiny burger bar(not part of a chain) at the end of my road is offering 2 x free burgers as a prize and to enter you just have to tag a friend. Most of us have done just that but much to my surprise a few low grade sob stories appeared. One of them mentioned winning would be great because she could celebrate her 50th there. Now - this diner is really tiny, seats maybe a dozen. The menu is limited to burgers and hotdogs - although they probably are the best in the area, it's not my idea of a place for a birthday blowout.
What also struck me about these overdone postings is how obvious they make it that someone is a 'comper' - something I would not have thought was always desireable"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember.
