    .
They would say that, wouldn't they?
They are not looking out for you.

Put in your own claim against the insurance policy of the at fault drive. Take them to small claims court if you must.

Stop faffing about with your own insurance when they are trying to screw you.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

I think they're saying that - with estimated prices for new parts - it would be c.£3k. But they can't find prices for new parts.

So they're offering £1,500 to the OP to take on the repair, with used parts or however they prefer.

OK - but as sheramber and I have said - surely the OP can refuse that offer. Or is that the insurer actually wants to write-off as "uneconomical to repair"? In which case - the OP has the choice of repairing with second-hand parts sourced with the help of the owner's club (which you've suggested) or taking the market value as a write-off (and you've pointed out that the market value hasn't yet been discussed).
I need to think of something new here...

There position is will not say write off as could be repaired in there opinion after there engineering team looked at photos and halved there estimate.

But they cannot repair as parts not avalable or even on UK price list

Am going to get 2nd rd independent garage to look at car and value

So offer to source the parts, accepting that you will be happy with used parts where new are not available, but they are responsible for paying the bodyshop for the labour and materials directly, as well as reimbursing you for the parts.

Apart from that, they'll probably eventually write it off to close the claim if there's a hire car being paid for, racking the total bill up.
