AutoEurope - zero excess for rental in US?

Renting in USA late august. Best prices coming with AutoEurope who claim ZERO excess (I always took out car hire insurance in the past).

Is this too good to be true?
Any experiences anyone?

Grateful for help!

Read the terms and conditions for the specific rental and note the exclusions. Some things might not be included, such as undercarriage, windscreen, tyres...

You'll need to give exact details of the booking if you want someone to scrutinise it for you.

Thanks for replying. Here's the info I have. Seems pretty clear from even these brief terms.

    Further details here: http://www.autoeurope.co.uk/go/excess-protection/

Scroll down for zero excess explanation.

What I don't get is that no one else on the car rental comparisons is clearly offering this. So it feels like there's a catch...

    Appreciate the help!

It's not particularly cheap. Why would you think that there was a catch?

What I don't like is that they state that there are four types of cover, but then the image you have supplied states Extended Cover, which isn't one of the four types.
Notwithstanding, it looks like full cover. Though I can't see the amount of liability insurance included.

Exact details to include dates and location.

Thanks for this. To me, it's the cheapest of the options available for SUV. (And theoretically means I don't need extra insurance so that -£50).

I agree it seems expensive. Paid £320 last year for the same car with National who are a better company. But assumed it was just fluctuations and the weak GBP.

    Can't find cheaper...

It's for 20th August to 4th September - Boston Logan airport (pickup and dropoff).

I'm getting £422.75 direct with Hertz for a Midsize SUV (Group Q4)

Take away another 8% by utilising Quidco...

Wow! Clearly the MSE advice to do comparison websites is a bit suspect.

I didn't quite get as low as this (438 and that was via the quidco offer of 17% off before cashback). But it's certainly an improvement.

    THANKS A LOT!

Guess I still have to get car hire insurance with this though (unless you think otherwise) but the 10% via quidco should deal with this.

    Thanks again!

rent car from the US via a UK Broker = full insurance (LIS/LDW) with no excess as standard.....
The only extra thing u can pay for is losing keys + few other bits it comes with. I have rented about 14 times in the US, never paid for that option.

    So whether u use: hertz.CO.UK
Alamo, netflights, usrentacar, blah blah blah UK broker, they all come with zero excess.
I booked with autoeurope a few months back, for my Alamo rental...
Best price against Netflights who are usually the cheapest...

Thanks for replying. Sorry; just to clarify. If I book through Hertz UK, I *don't* need car hire insurance? Or is it only if book through a broker?

Well, just to tie this one up for future searchers, it seems that:
    a) The car rentals direct can beat the comparisons/brokers - assuming there is a code somewhere (Quidco is showing one at the moment for 17% which suits my needs).
    b) You don't need car hire excess in the US when renting from the UK. (Hm... wasted a few years of car hire insurance here. Dammit)

Lesson learned: always check quidco/tcb for decent deals. AND that MSEers are lovely people (tho' I knew that anyway).
