Conflicted competition win

Hi, I'm relatively new to comping and have only been doing it for about a week.
I have just had a text saying I've won the monthly competition at UK prizes. It provided me with a number to ring and a code to enter but it charges an initial cost of £6.00. I'm not sure whether or not it is legitimate and could really use some guidance. I appreciate any advice, just feeling really torn right now. :undecided

Don't call it and avoid UK prizes0

I've not heard of this but my gut instinct is DON'T. Any competition asking you to pay to receive a prize is mega dodgy. No legitimate prize promoter would do this. Lots of free to enter (and win) competitions on this site. Do have a look at the advice for new compers, it's very good advice.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. & UK Prize are on the list we are advised to avoid..
11 Are there any sites, from experience, which are likely to generate lots of spam?
There are a few which have come to our collective attention as sites that, when used for comps, seem to generate lots of unwanted postal, email & phone call attention. These are listed below for your information, however, please do remember this is the collective opinion of other MSE Compers & does not necessarily reflect upon the sites themselves.
