Any opinions on the Peugeot?
Although it looks quite smart there are a number of issues relating to safety and the speed of the sliding door mechanism. It is slow to open so hopping in and out is drawn out, also with a fireman in the family he is quick to point out the concerns in access to crashed vehicles through non conventional hinged doors, also in flood circumstances if the electrics fail. Thinking further ahead, remember you will have to sell this car on at some point so a Micra would have a greater appeal - but is subject to higher supply (so a close call). Others to consider - Seat Ibiza, Honda Jazz, Mitsubishi Colt, Suzuki Swift, Renault Clio or Modus, Vauxhall Corsa , VW Polo.
If it was my money it would be going to the Suzuki.Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

What do people think about a KIia Picanto???0
-
Lucy, I dont know about Kia cars but have a read through the reviews from http://www.parkers.co.uk and http://www.whatcar.com
Back to original OP. To be honest I dont particularly like the styling of the micra, the bubble shape is not to my taste. While the Pug maybe better in styling, japanese reliability is best.
But also consider the seat Ibiza mentioned, they have very good reviews. Nearly all parts are from VW with a smaller price tag.0 -
I recently drove a micra new shape for 2 weeks on a hire basis
I loved the car, it was a 1.2 and was very nippy, the spec was good , economic, cheap costs, the only slight criticism I had was the seats which would be easily solved by paying for the upgraded ones
Seriously dont think a peageot 1007 will come near long term, especially with the electrics on it, we all know french electrics are notorious0 -

That's the car I was thinking about aswell...Are they any good?0 -
I have driven my niece's 1.3 yaris 2006 model and its very spacious inside, it drives well, feels safe, its an excellent little car. A few of my female friends have a yaris too, although they are a little more higher in price than their counterpart, toyota as we know have brilliant reliability record. To me the yaris looks are on the feminine side, but thats just my opinion. Dont let my opinion on this put you off as they are brilliant little cars.0
