I am in a similar situation :A I applied on Friday but didnt get round to posting it till Sunday. I was expecting to get a brush off but posted the application just on the off chance. Lets hope they do accept 'em.info_addict wrote: »I had a call back from them this morning and asked this question and was told that all applications in the post will be honoured as new accounts. This is good news, as mine only went in the post today! Must have forgotten this when I spoke to them, as I said it was posted Friday! Cheque and application form duly dated 14th.
I wonder do they really keep a log of who applied online
:beer:God save the King!
I'll save Winston Churchill, Jane Austen, J. M. W. Turner and Alan Turing.0 -
and the 6.30% FRB replaces the 6.95 FRB!!0

Well their website and press adverts do say "*Loyalty Fixed Rate Bond will be available to all existing customers until 31 October 2007." and you can apply in branch - which probably makes a lot of sense as their postal service has been PATHETIC for me recently.
Meanwhile S&S delivered by 7.05% passbook today as hoped for - phew

i imagine quite a lot will be going for birmingham midshires 6.93% aer
and the older generation going for saga 6.92% from tomorrow.
the day may well come when nationwide BS is the only place to go for deposits, at the present time their are other savings providers.

Birmingham Midshires website is still offering an 11m a/c fixed at 6.95% AER
http://www.askbm.co.uk/savings/i/fixed/11months/intro.asp
as Saga's fixed rate a/c's are with BMidshires I guess it's just the extra 4 weeks 'fix' that would lead to people wanting the lower 6.92% AER.
Maybe the Moneyfacts make it only 6.93 because of the 4 days for a cheque deposit to start earning interest ?0 -
The SAGA rates are usually slightly higher than BMidshires, and the rate from 20th is supposed to be 6.92% gross with monthly income, which is higher than the 6.74% BM is offering with monthly income.
We oldies like our monthly income and it helps keep the annual income steady and below Higher Rate Tax0 -

For tax purposes it wont matter whether you receive interest monthly or annually. You will still have to pay tax in accordance with your total earnings.0
