  • OH POO! I've just registered for the forum so I could post about this fantastic rate and let you all know about it. But there's been much posting already.

I'm off to sign up in the next few days with 50% of my planned investment, holding the balance to see if anyone trumps it next week. Heard the bit on radio 2 last night about rates going up, so yes, it could happen.

Went into the branch on Friday and did it instantly. Thanks Kanchelskis - that's within 3 days of posting on this site, that it is fully subscribed. You really do have to act fast.

Sorry Mary, thanked you in error!

Just wanted to say I think the S&S have a reputation of closing thier bonds to new applicants within a few days of launch. Thats why I acted fast on this one.
  • I wonder if the Bond Issue was a knock-on effect from the Regular saver that finished a few months ago. It allowed investors to put in a £1000 per month at 7%. I along with at least one other contributor to this thread took advantage but withdrew the full £12000 plus interest as soon as it matured. Funds which they expected to hold onto in inferior paying accounts immediately walked out the door and now they have a very short term cashflow problem.

I applied online, iirc on Thursday. I gave all my details including driving licence number & stated the amount that I wished to invest. I couldn't find my passport at the time but it was safely locked away.

I printed off the application & posted it together with a cheque on Friday afternoon using the Freepost address given on the website.

I wonder where I stand now? Will they count my online application as valid or will they return my cheque because the bond is now fully subscribed?
