I printed off the application & posted it together with a cheque on Friday afternoon using the Freepost address given on the website.
I wonder where I stand now? Will they count my online application as valid or will they return my cheque because the bond is now fully subscribed?
I phoned Stroud & Swindon today & I was told that because I applied online before the bond was closed I should be O.K for getting the Issue 57 Bond @
7.05%.
They have been absolutely snowed under with applications & there is a large back log for them to wade through. I was told to expect an acknowledgement within the next few days.
So,it's fingers crossed that what I was told is true & that I don't have to settle for the Issue 58 Bond @ 6.95%.0 -
I hesitated - I missed out, I've gone for the Standard Life 6 month @ 7%

I'm out of pocket by a max of £25 over the term

I opened a 1 year fix on Friday. The lady in the branch said that at the current rate of investment it might be fully subscribed this week. I assume they'll be a beneficiary of the NR panic.0 -
The 7% for 6 months Standard Life bond closed at about 16:10 today. They have a new one on the same conditions but at 6.75%
(I rang at 16:30, drat)0 -
I`m going into Nationwide today
6.70% will do me.
USA to cut their rates today, only a matter of time before the BoE follow and then you`ll be lucky to 6.25% for a year.0 -

I was told in the branch that cheques will take about 8 days to clear, as they have to go first through Stroud & Swindon clearing bank and then yours, as they are only a building society. My money was not cleared in my own bank account, that's why I double checked.
I assume that refers to when you want to withdraw from a cheque deposit...8 days is what it says in their literature.
My experience re. new 7.05% account - account opened by S&S 13/9 (Thurs) chq cleared 18/9 (Tues) ie the 'normal' 3 working days.0 -
Yes, what they told me is not what happened. Checked on line today.
Paid money in branch on Friday, cleared from my bank account today Tuesday. (3 days)0 -
My account was opened on Friday and the cheque amount was debited from my current a/c today.0

Set up my Nationwide bond today and was told the interest will be back dated to today when the cheque clears.0
