I didn't quote the rest, because I wasn't replying to the rest, because it was irrelevant.

OP - so how many people live at your address? If this woman is a lodger, are you the property owner or a lodger yourself?

    In your opinion.
  • Hi everyone. I need to know whether or not I am in the wrong here because I am getting confused myself! I have a lodger living with me and she is living here only. However, she has a partner who is not living here as we clearly stated it is for single occupancy only.

For a few months, we have had letters coming to our house in her husbands name. So far we have had letter from the bank in his name, v5 registration document, and also car insurance document. I put return to sender, no such person lives at this address but the insurance one came back so I web chatted them and said why do you keep on sending it back, and upon passing details on they said it seems like he has registered himself at my address and has now noted it down on the policy and will be in touch with him regarding this.

I should probably tell her, really but before I do - could it possibly be the lodger that is driving the car, but it is registered and insured in his name? Is that allowed/does this sound a bit odd?

    Thanks

If the lodger won't take the hint, give her her notice. That simple.

What else has she / he been registering at your address loans, credit cards? You could end up with a heap of grief.

I would tell the lodger she cannot use your address for mail and will have to leave.

Posting it as "someone" or as you did before "an unknown person" is misleading.
You know who it is and they are the husband of your lodger. It does raise more questions than answers but there could be valid reasons why it's registered there - does the husband have a permanent address?

Your behaviour sounds rather extreme. Why don't you be the sensible thing and discuss it with your lodger? Especially as you don't know whether she's actually the one driving the car.

He might be living rough, living in a hostel or some such which makes it hard for him to receive mail.
