Afternoon all
Not an ambitious list today - got up early to go to the local car boot sales. Bought a nice little kitchen trolley for £5, which will be useful for when I need extra kitchen prep space (I don't have a big kitchen, sadly). I have put it outside and scrubbed it, as it was a bit grubby, and must find it somewhere handy to live when it isn't being used - it is very small, so shouldn't be too difficult, even in here
Apart from that, I bought some rolls of parcel and sellotape, some onions and peppers, and just a couple of vintagey bits to sell on. Spent about £15 on all of it, and the tape and vintage items are for my business, so only about £6 of 'our' money
Still waiting for 2 ebay buyers to pay up - wish they would hurry up so I can get the items packed and off the dining table!
Dried a load of washing on the line
Did a bit in the garden, got rid of a few pots of salads etc that are past their best. Need to do a bit of watering, not too much though, as heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow
Picked a load of salad leaves, which are currently soaking in the sink, must wash and inspect for bugs  in a minute
Started a shopping list
Need to walk the dog, as we are off to DD's shortly for a bbq. He must stay at home, as he chases her chickensGD will want to know where he is.
CCL, hope your kitty turns up soon - he probably took himself off because you went away, our cats sometimes used to do that, only to reappear soon after we had returned.0 -
Having a particularly sleepy day today - I'm really struggling with pelvis and back pain at the moment so have been moving very slowly and limited in the amount of house work I can do at one time! Also anaemic so most activity gets me puffed out!
Things husband and I did today:
1. Bought a £60 pack of meat from the butchers - included 17 chicken breasts, 1.5kg diced beef, 1.5kg mince, 4 sirloin steaks, 2 rump steaks, 0.5kg spicy stirfry chicken, 1kg bacon, 4 sausages, 4 chicken burgers.... I'm sure I'm forgetting something! So its been portioned up and stuck into the freezer and will hopefully last us a good month or so.
2. Going to make a sweet potato and courgette frittata in a moment for my week's lunch
3. Cracked open a terramundi pot we've had for a few years - there was £185 in it! So I'm gluing it back together with superglue so we can use it for another few years of saving!
Husband is out for a run and will hopefully walk the dog when he comes home!DFW beginning 24/06/16 - current balances as of 28/07/16 are:
£1320 / £1520 Paypal Credit
£5413 / £6913 BarclayCard
Total: £6733 / £8433 Hopeful DFD - October 2016!
Grocery Challenge August: £56 / £3750 -
Hello all!
I'd like to introduce myself, I have just registered today. I have asked the site to help me change my username as for some reason it did't process the letter ñ correctly so my username doesn't make sense haha. If anyone knows a way I can change my username that would be great.
Anyway I am here to help visually track my own debt clearing and cost cutting, discuss ideas with others, give whatever advice I can give and seek ideas for myself!
This weekend to save money I have:
Listed many clothes on eBay, including a designer handbag and other high-end high street clothes so hopefully that will bring some cash in for me
Sold a pile of old books I didn't want any more (and in the pursuit of clutter clearing) on the website Ziffit. Made £36!
Worn my glasses for a few days to save on pricey contact lenses. I want to seek a cheaper alternative to the current silicon gold I am wearing
Cut up a dress I didn't like anymore but adore the fabric and colour- going to make a beach sarong or some sort of simple skirt with it!
Stayed in and didn't go out socialising this weekend!
Cancelled my monthly subscription to a language learning service- will save £10 a month now and am continuing to learn via other free methods.
Traded in 6 empty MAC makeup containers to get a free lipstick off them!
Tomorrow I will call my car company to see how much finance is left on it and start considering my options, will call EE to unlock my old iPhone 5 and start using that with current SIM as other phone is awful but can't afford to buy a new good one.
Anyway hello to all and hope to join in your DFW conversations! I'm aiming to be clear of £8500 in 2 year's time. :j0 -
Evening Money Savers,
Busy day. mr f reassembled the IKEA units we bought yesterday (budgeted for) & is having a blitz of his extensive book/DVD/CD collection. I've been having a massive clear-out of my HQ (home office).
*Watered veggies.
*Moved around & improved storage in my HQ, as mr f offered me one of his old units. Room has had a whole new look & everything is much, much better organised for the princely sum of £3.90, for 2 packs of magazine files.
*Caught up with backlog of filing & shredded stuff no longer required. Being organised always saves me money.
*Re-listed ebay items. I may have to give up on these ones......but I've been here before. I just think I'll list things for the very last time, then I sell a couple. It's very random.
*Unpacked the Presents Box & made a list of everything in it & who it's for.
*Wrapped sister's birthday gifts using paper which was given to me, a recycled gift bag & a hand-made gift tag from a pretty card I received earlier this year.
*Wrote a list of financial tasks which need to be done tomorrow.
*Paid 5 x 50p pieces into my sealed pot.
*Sorted through my recycled packaging stash which was out of control. Kept a good selection of materials, in a range of sizes, but decluttered a big pile of cardboard packaging to the recycling wheelie bin as I could ebay something every day for a year & not use all that lot!
*While sorting out of date paperwork for shredding, kept clean-on-one-side A4 paper for printing, etc.
*Put washing machine on timer for a cheap overnight wash.
*Read energy meters & updated spreadsheets. Better readings this week. Haven't used quite as much gas or night-time electricity. Daytime not bad but would have been better had I not switched the heated towel rail on to dry soggy towels & forgot about it, so left it on all day. Grrrrr.
*Two baths from one lot of hot water. We are building a decent wodge of credit on our energy account, which I want to maximise towards the winter bills.
Think that's everything.
F x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (36/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 6.5kg/30kg

Hi all
Had a fantastic day out for £6! Well I suppose there was the cost of some petrol there and back but we even found a free parking space. The £6 bought 3 portions of chips to have with our homemade butties. The sun shone and we biked 17 miles in the most beautiful scenery.
So early to bed with my library book. Lots to do on job no. 2 this week so need to get some hours in.0 -
Evening all. :hello:
I'm pleased to report that the missing naughty tortie 2 showed her face this morning. I think she's been camping out next door and they took her in last night. The kids were getting a bit frantic for her this morning.crazy_cat_lady wrote: »
