Windows 10 download question

I went to the first link in Sol's post above and pressed the lets get started button and it seems to be installing from that, 46% So I'll see what happens then0

I haven't got another pc Nifty. I'm trying to get it onto the lappy you helped me buy - Toshiba
If you just want to download the image in order to create a bootable USB Flash drive or DVD, you need to choose this option to Create Installation Media For Another PC:
If you want it to do an in-place upgrade without giving you a standalone DVD/USB Flash drive, you choose the option that you have done.0 -
It hasn't come up with that option anywhere0

At the moment, its working on the first link that Sol gave me - - The windows 10 upgrade assistant - It says its downloading Windows 10 and its 29% complete. It had said earlier that it was installing it and was 46% complete then it just seemed to disappear0

The standalone disc is here: Windows 10 English International 64 bit
But then you'll need a blank DVD or USB Flash drive to create the media.
Why have you left it so late? You could have simply purchased an SSD a week ago for £25 and installed Windows 10 to that and then put it aside until you were ready.
An in-place upgrade will never be as smooth as a clean install, so you aren't going to get the best possible experience.
Anyway, see how it goes for now.0 -
Slapped wrists!!
Was busy with work so didn't have time, also didn't have money to buy any other media as had to hire car for working.
Wasn't really bothered about having Windows 10 - still not really
Wouldn't know how to do a clean install either0 -
Well at some ungodly hour this morning finally got Win 10 to download and install and I'm now on it.
When I switched it on, I got a box came up saying that this version of the operating system is not supported. What is all that about, I thought that that was why I was going onto Win 10, if its not supported, I might as well have stayed on Win 7!!!
Not found my way round it all yet so hating it,
First thing I did was switch off all the settings that said it was sending stuff to Microsoft. What else do I need to switch off?
I also switched Cortana off as that said it sent stuff to Microsoft too. I don't want them following my every move,0
