My friend named her golden retriever 'biscotti' and they now call it 'scotti' for short, very cute I think0

So the op is getting a golden retriever that's crossed with a golden retriever mix?
Why not just get a goldie? Like at least a goldie has a breed standard and recognised testing procedures
I'm getting quite sick and tired of these mixed breeds and their fancy names. I blame them for the sudden increase in back yard breeders who don't have a clue what they're doing.
They just see $$$ signs because for some reason they command unrealistic inflated prices as people deem them to be a designer dog. They're not, they're just mongrel cross breeds!0 -

They groundlessly claim to produce a 'breed' with so called 'cross breed immunity' to disease, but, in fact, can produce a dog with the health problems of all breeds included in the mix.0 -
Just don't choose Wolf.
Imagine calling a selectively 'deaf' dog over and over....Wolf, Wolf, Wolf!0 -

What's a golden doodle btw?Feral_Moon wrote: »A mongrel
Genuine question, isn't it a cross?
I *thought* a cross is two breeds, ie a Golden retriever and a poodle.
A mongrel is three or more breeds ie a Golden Retriever and a Golden Retriever/Poodle cross.
In the times last week there was some luvvie extolling the virtues of his Cavapoochon....aaargh, that he bought from a hobby breeder. So a mongrel from a backstreet breeder.
Sorry OP, nothing wrong with a mongrel, I have one myself ( no idea what her parentage was, so she's just a bitzer!
I say wait and see what the dog is like, I've never named mine in advance. One thing with kennel names is that they sometimes give you a hint - I've had Chilite Skipadee who became Skip, and Chilite Snug as a Bug who became Bugsey aka Bugslet.0 -
A golden retriever /poodle cross is 50% retriever and 50% poodle
A golden retriever/golden retriever cross/poodle is 75% retriever and 25% poodle
Those trying to establish a new breed back cross to the original breeds used hoping to establish a consistent breeding line that the KC will recognise.0
