I forgot to say there is always the bonus option though - strike a deal with the universe and karma!! i.e. take the money, but agree that the next time you are in need of a RM refund (posting as much as we do, it's probably inevitable at some point!), you won't claim for it. The universe is quite capable of deciding whether or not you are deserving of the extra payment
This has happened to me already! I didn't claim on a couple of occasions over the years. Once I couldn't find the Proof of Posting:o, the other time OH had posted it for me and didn't ask for one:(
Maybe RM owes me one;)0 -

A couple of months ago I sold a book on Amazon (quite an expensive one) and the buyer said it never arrived. I wanted to safeguard my 100% feedback and gave him a full refund. I claimed and received compensation for loss from Royal Mail.
I've just had an email from the buyer saying the book has turned up (was placed by postman in his shed as he wasn't in and he's only just found it:eek:. It's one of the first places I'd have looked for it if I'd been him but it takes all sorts)
He wants to reimburse me (what an honest man:T) and wants to know what form of payment I would like. I would like Paypal actually and can't see any problem with it.
But I feel bad because I've already had the money for its loss from Royal Mail. Should I just accept both payments and keep quiet or what? I feel like I'm defrauding the Royal Mail:o

1. Take the refund (which is in fact the payment you are rightly due) but contact Royal Mail and ask offer to refund their reimbursement. Thus making everything as it should be.

Like Lynne I was going to suggest using the money to make a donation to a charity, either your favourite or a local one if you don't have a favourite0

Evening all
What a lovely dilemma to be in CBC and it's great to see all the ideas coming straight back for you. Can't wait for the next instalment now ......what will she decide ??? :rotfl:
What a great month you all seem to have had - especially seeing as it's August and not usually a good month, what with sprogs, holibobs and weather too good (for most of you) to sit inside for hoursWell done to all those making monies :T
I have £4.50 to add today from surveys so still getting closer but not there yet. Will have to rack what little brain I have left to try to find the rest t/m.
Hope you all have a super Wednesday

Hi all,
I'm declaring an unbelievable £1777.83 for this month! That would not have been possible without the help and advice from everyone on here, so thank you so much! It was our first month attempting this challenge and it's been fantastic! We've learnt so much from everyone and, hopefully, one day we'll know enough to be able to help others.
Hope you have a wonderful last day and I wish you all the best for September!0 -
A massive thank you to everyone who came straight back with advice about my refund dilemma:T. What lovely people you are Surfchik, Lynne, Listerbelle and BritishBibliophile:A
Next riveting instalment coming up:rotfl:. The matter has been taken out of my hands somewhat as the buyer contacted Amazon himself (he's determined to pay the money back:A) and they have already charged his card. It's en route to my Amazon account as I type. Amazon don't allow buyers and sellers to contact each other directly through their private email addresses. Conversations have to go through Amazon's messaging service. They remove email addresses and supply a temporary transaction-specific one ( a bit Big Brother-like in my opinion:eek:). They wouldn't allow me to do a deal via Paypal. It's all new to me so I'm learning something :T
I really like the idea of donating the money to a charity. I volunteer whenever I can at a small local animal charity that survives purely through donations. That's what I was doing over the Bank Holiday, helping to man their stall and drumming up support at a big annual event. I spend time at the sanctuary helping out when I can as I can't afford to donate as much money as I could in the old days:o. Time and elbow grease are valuable commodities to them so I feel I'm still doing my bit. That was a brilliant suggestion from you, Lynne and BB:T. That's where the money will go. I won't confess to them that it's ill-gotten gains;)0 -
