fibre/broadband activation fees query

I'm currently on a standard plusnet service, thinking of upgrading to the bt infinity fibre deal featured on the mse newsletter.
I know there's an activation charge for the engineer to upgrade the line at the cabinet.
My question is, if after 12 months, i change to another provider's fibre or standard broadband does the line have to physically changed again? (and therefor charged an activation fee again?)

I asked a similar question on here.
i.e if I move to another fibre supplier. Answer was Yes I would have to pay again!
I doubt you will have to pay to go back to ASDL BB

The incentives offered for new customers such as reward cards/cashback sites will usually offset any activation fees.
BT is £49 activation + £7.95 delivery but you get a £150 pre paid reward card.
Go via quidco/Top cashback and and theres more to be had.
At the end of the contract switch away using the same process and any activation fees will be covered by the offers and cashback.0 -
do you think i'd be better off doing it through topcashback than get the £50 cheque through the mse link?
Don't have long to order, it expires at midnight tonight0 -

You'd be better off provided the cashback tracks and is paid. I'd go with the £50 cheque myself but will depend on your own view.0 -
i've gone for the £50 cheque. i'm too tired to look into the cashback thing now after having my card declined about 5 times by bt!0

Some companies like plusnet and sky dont charge the activation fee0

My first fibre install with PN included a set up fee £39/£49. My fibre ISP swap to BT from PN incurred no set up fee . Only paid £7 postage for the router .0

did the plusnet to BT fibre swap yesterday via quidco as £150 mastercard and £95 and opportunity to leave plusnet penalty free due to impending price increase was too good to miss but checked with BT beforehand and despite it being a fibre migration, which as far as i can tell doesnt involve any engineering input at all but can be done remotely via software they still charge £49 ''activation'' fee - bit of a con if you ask me but still worth paying to save £20 odd/month0

very similar to me. are you going to apply for the £150 mastercard straight away? or after installation?0 -
dont think you can apply for mastercard reward until after service is activated which for me is 11th august ?? quidco tracked within minutes and is showing as £95 payable in september !!0
