Fibre activation Charge

A question.
If I was a Sky fibre customer and wanted to move to BT Fibre, would I have to pay an activation charge, considering I was already connected to fibre?
or vice versa?
Thank you

they can still charge you as its for the cost of the engineers swapping the connection and its not the provider that does it, I think its Openreach. Some providers will subsidise the cost though so worth asking0

Yes. In my case I'm moving from BT Infinity Fibre to Talk Talk Fibre and I have to pay the £50 Fibre Connection Fee. Talk Talk uses BT wholesale and I'm already connected so all that needs to be done is change over the account. A rip-off I'd say but there you go.0 -

Not with FTTC. For some bizzare reason you're actually allocated a different port in the DSLAM in the cabinet when you migrate from on supplier to another.0 -
Bit of a pain for those who like to switch around for a good deal.
Is there a suppler that is likely to stay low prices (or good value) long term?0 -
The wholesale price OR charge for a CP to CP switch is £11, so if TT charge £50, they obviously charge more than 'cost price'...it's no surprise really , to make the monthly charge the lowest it can be , so the adverts are eye catching, they inflate costs elsewhere like 'router delivery' and 'connection' charges, and imply that it's the other party's involved (like the courier or OR) that are responsible for these charges0

That's not the half of it: My switch date from BT to Talk Talk us 02 March. On or around that date Talk Talk will be charging me by direct debit for a month's phone line, the fibre activation charge and the router delivery charge. In addition BT is charging me for a full month for phone line, broadband and calls from 24 Feb to March 24 and in addition pro rata plus calls from 24 Feb to March 02. According to BT don't worry about it because they "will refund an overpayment if any". My first instinct is to cancel the BT direct debit but in that case I'll be incurring an extra charge from BT and perhaps placing my credit history in jeapardy.
So anyone who is switching needs to make sure they have enough funds to cover unforeseen direct debits.0 -
I think BT refunded me 7p
I was just glad to get rid of them though.0
