I think it would be a good idea to take on the extra work over the summer. 37 hours isn't too many as long as you're not lumbered with all the childcare and home stuff at the same time.

Well done for looking at increasing your hours. As long as your childcare won't be an issue go for it if it's what you want. If it becomes too much then you can always drop hours, but it's definitely worth trying. You've made such a massive change during the past 12 months :)

    Good morning diary world,

It feels like I haven't been properly on here for ages.

What I thought was my dream job turned out to be awful and after just over a year I have had to hand my notice in. It was starting to really affect my mental health again. I had also been working near enough 3 jobs which wasn't helping my mental health. I feel like my life is a bit of a mess right now. I feel doing this diary organises me a bit. When I can I will do a debt update and I think I will start logging my food expenses to keep an eye on it.

I am being honest here but I have booked a few things for next year and over spent on Xmas and bdays but the debt figure is lower than it was.

    Goals

Clear both Tesco cc by next July - slightly cheating as I'm using my barclaycard now to spend on as it's a much lower rate and focusing on clearing these two as parts start having interest charged on them from Feb.

    Have a lovely day.

    Morning ,

Yesterday was a nsd as I spent it visiting friends with the children. My aim is to spend as little as possible on food shopping in November as I know December will be more difficult .

    Have a good day .

    Morning,

I've been logging my food spends and I'm really in shock at how much it's gone up to! I think this time of year is really hard as we are already starting to visit people etc which means bringing something over plus i might buy the odd present . I've been spending approx £100 a week for 5 of us

Food is one area where it’s so easy for the spending to increase without you really noticing initially. Our was creeping up, but we’re starting to get it back under control again!

    Hi,

Where has this year gone! I've been still reading but not as regularly .
I'm not sure if I mentioned it but my dream job ended up not being my dream job at all and it affected my mental health. I now have a job which can be boring but the ppl are lovely. I currently don't feel as stressed about money as I normally would which is odd as I have over 20k of deals ending next year. I'm just trying to pay off as much as I can.

I really want to start saving for Xmas next year as this is a big expense and does stress me out. Even if it's just a small amount, it's better than nothing. We are still at a stage where we can't afford our outgoings with our minimum salary ( but some salary aspect is flexible )

My aim for next year is a big one......

To clear all credit cards that are coming off their deals next year and to be in position where we can afford our outgoings with just our basic salary and include saving for things. This is a massive challenge but we will be in such a better position if we can do this and this is my focus.

January is frugal month for us, I want to spend as little as possible . I did this 2 years ago and we managed to spend very little and it felt great. I'm also going to go back to logging every penny I spend in the new year.

Thanks for everyone's support and advice , I really do appreciate it x
