Working after being out of the workplace for a long time must be tough and I am guessing lack of confidence is why you worry a lot and ask lots of questions. That will get better with time and personally I would have thought asking questions to check rather than make mistakes is better so I would carry on as you are.
Do you take notes? I used to find with one of the positions I held with lots of varied responsibilities, some of which were not done regularly I found it helpful to make notes on my PC on first doing them to remind me of things to check when doing them next time. Otherwise if it was a few months before doing that particular task again I would forget if not doing all the time. I just used to refer to those before tackling it next time rather than ask a colleague.
I can't believe it is Christmas shopping time again but I guess it is now November. I have done nothing. I am decorating our kitchen today as we are having a new one installed at the moment. Enjoy your shopping. My advice is go armed with a list and stick to a budget rather than just pick things up. Also have an idea what to get and check prices online first.
My thoughts are the same about asking questions rather than making mistakes. I do think my confidence is the issue but hopefully in time it will improve. I'm a note taker so have lots of notes even about the simplest of tasks.
I have my shopping list ready and have done internet research. I also benefited yesterday from the topcashback deal of £3 back plus I was buying from a shop that was giving 20% cash back. My dd had chosen some bits from there for Xmas so I spent £24 but am getting £7 back... not bad.
How exciting getting a new kitchen, bet you can't wait until it's completed!0 -
Hi,
I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted! I have done quite a lot of Xmas shopping. Lots of spending in general.0 -
Morning,
I really don't know where the time is going!
I think I have managed to get an increase in my hours meaning I'll be eligible to more free childcare which over all will be saving £1400!!! I say I think because I haven't received the new contract yet so don't want to get too excited about it. Work has been a bit better.
I can't believe Christmas is in 5 weeks, I really don't feel ready and can't be bothered with it this year. That is so unlike me but I just think it's a lot of work and a lot of money. I have been really tired lately so that probably doesn't help.
Not much change with the money front. I won't be making my under 40k target this year but I'm not going to stress about it.
Have a lovely day.0 -

Great news about the savings in childcare and well done on such super progress in work.
Sometimes I buy presents too early and then feel a few weeks before Christmas that I haven't bought enough. This year I am going to not rush into buying but wait a few weeks until the craziness begins .. as others have said make a list and then go and purchase items. Then forget about it all bar the food and drink.

Hi,
I haven't been writing on here much as money is rubbish. I am at a stage where I feel my anxiety isn't controlled , work isn't great and the money situation is getting worse. I feel like I live a lie in the real world. I feel like I can't stop spending as I feel so depressed and trying to live another life. I feel like what's the point with all this money business.
I know it's completely the wrong attitude but just not feeling that positive right now.0 -
Sorry to hear you feel down about everything again, you sounded so upbeat recently. Can you pinpoint what happened to make you feel like this ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Sorry to hear that. It is a difficult time of year when you are on a tight budget and have a large family to buy presents for. Can you put some measures in place to stop you spending like not taking your bank card out with you or budgeting weekly or having NSDs? You were feeling very positive about work a few weeks ago when you got an increase in hours so it is a shame you are feeling low now.
