    Hi Moguline,

I'm ok thanks. Life is just busy and not much happening on the debt front. It feels like I've be paying out a lot lately! Food spends seem to be going well.

    Hi,

Thought I would check in with a quick update as I 've been busy with work and a bit under the weather. Money wise I'm feeling poor but it's pay day on Friday which means I can pay more minimums and get my food allowance. I'm very conscious of the fact that we have a spendy couple of months so I need to really cut the food budget back.

An opportunity has arisen for me to potentially get a few more hours at work which would be good if it all goes to plan.

I really want to clear debt as I know it will help our monthly spends. But now not in ten years :rotfl:
  • Hi lovely,

Well done on clearing the £6.5K that's a massive amount and I think I missed it but congratulations on your new job.

Fingers crossed that the new hours work out as it will really help with your budget.

    Have a great day xx

    Hi,

I will apologise already for the depressing post!

We have changed energy supplies which is great BUT our old suppliers are saying we owe them over £200! I had a long talk with them and even the lady on the phone thinks there is an issue. They are trying to say that our readings show we have used approx £180 of gas and electricity each month in a two and a half month period!!! Over £100 in gas per month since the beg of August!!! We have put the heating on in this house prob 7 times at the most for an hour long. We have a gas hob and oven and yes I cook most days. We don't have a dishwasher and have showers instead of baths. We have the odd bath. They are saying we spent less in our old house in the same time period... that shows there is an issue as our old house was freezing so we had the heating on loads plus I was working from home more. I'm really annoyed because who knows how long this will take to sort out plus as we have moved suppliers, our old suppliers are implying if a problem is found that they don't care and won't refund us!

I'm also feeling frustrated at work. The way some ppl speak to me is starting to get on my nerves. I work hard and give so many extra hours and you never get appreciated.

In conclusion I'm feeling pretty fed up... can you tell:rotfl:

I feel financially things never improve esp with this heating situation. Even if we were debt free things would still be difficult due to our ridiculous rent. I just can't see things improving and I'm feeling suffocated again. As my title says I feel like I'm drowning!

Sorry once again but needed to get it off my chest.

    One positive I've lost 5lbs!

Sounds like there is an issue if they reckon the gas is £100 per month over the summer although if you have a gas hob maybe that does use a lot. We only have gas heating and hot water now and although it was extortionate over the winter we rarely use more than £20 a month. Do you have a smart meter so you can see how much you are using?

Sorry you feeling low and frustrated. Not sure what to suggest on the work front although I have to say I would not do the extra hours especially if your work colleagues don't appreciate it and you are on a relatively low rate per hour.

No we don't have a smart metre in this house, we did in the old one. I asked the woman on the phone if the gas hob uses more than an electric hob and she said no. £20 is great, how much is your electricity over the same time period?

I'm not going to bother doing as many extra hours.

Although we have an electric shower, we have gas heating & a gas hob & I cook most days even in summer. In August we used 1 unit (about 11 kwh). Are you sure you read your meters correctly? Check what your meters say now compared to what readings you gave them. Some older meters it is possible to read the "rolling over to" number rather than the "rolling over from" one.

Is that 1 per day? They said we used 7!!! We triple checked the meter and took pictures.

Just checked our bill for September. Gas was £14.74 and electric £72.11 so we are heavier on electric but that tends to be static throughout the year. We cook with electric, have an electric shower and electric underfloor heating in some parts of the house. Too many gadgets too.
