My dh did get referred to the dental hospital but they wouldn't take him on :(

I would imagine then the problem is a regional one for him. In my daughters case she was told if treatment was urgent (in her case 4 wisdom teeth needed removing) and the dentist was happy to refer to a dental hospital then the dental hospital had to treat her. No charge at all. Maybe he needs to persist if the treatment is that urgent.

    Hi,

I've been thinking a lot about money lately and decided to focus on saving as much as I can for what I need ( what dh wanted me to transfer for) which does mean the debt won't be going down as much but I need to look at the positives that I have cleared debt since last October as per signature. If we can save for what we need whilst paying the minimums then it should reduce our outgoings next year.

I've worked out that once all minimums have been paid I will hit under £45k! From October last year I would have roughly cleared £6.5 , I will update my signature when it's approx a year. It's been hard, stressful and feels never ending but good it's gone down. I won't hit my target of under £40k by the end of the year as I will be focusing on saving for things we needs
  • so Long as it is going down and you are sticking to budget that is good. Impressed you are sticking to it and clearing £6.5k is great.

    Morning,

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted! Life feels too busy at the minute. My work is particularly busy and I'm doing extra hours to keep up but unpaid :(

On the money front I've been cashing out my spends which seems to be going well. I've managed to reduce my dd mobile package by £20 a month and have even managed to hang two loads of washing outside.

On the debt front as a whole I've changed the way I do things. I was getting very depressed about looking at my debt as a whole and infact will take it off my signature. What I have done is made another spreadsheet with what I want to clear within the next year due to deals ending etc. I still have my other spreadsheet but will only look at this monthly when I pay the minimums. I know this may sound odd to people but I get very down seeing over 80k of debt on a daily basis. It makes it seem nearly impossible to clear my debt whereas giving myself annual goals for me is better. My aim by next September is 22k which I have worked out is just over 15k extra once minimums have been paid. That's approx £41 per day! I might put this in my signature.
  • Busy is good but why are you doing unpaid overtime? Temporarily is ok if it will lead to better things like a promotion but if it is just your employer taking advantage I would ease off on that.

Good that cashing out your spends is working for you and good news on the mobile package reduction. How you record your debt free journey is up to you. If you feel having smaller targets will motivate you better and not depress you then it is your diary and you must do what works best for you. I think it is Abbas diary which shows her target individual debts in her signature. Having an annual goal is good.

£15k on top of minimums is a great target.

    Thanks.

The extra hours is because I'm still new and learning and want everything to be ok. I also worry I may be too slow as I check things due to my anxiety. I won't always do it but due an appraisal soon so will be interesting to hear what is said.
  • Ok that makes sense. I am sure as time goes on you gain more confidence. Nothing wrong with wanting to do a good job.
