So I got the job BUT they have offered me full time hours and minimum wage 😟 And unfortunately due to childcare costs it wouldn't be worth it. I'm gutted.

What getting that job has made me realise is I need to be extra careful with money as if I take the job( currently trying to negotiate hours and salary) once I pay childcare I'll be working for £3-£3.50 an hour. How easy do I just spend that, yet I'll be working hard to earn that. I have been reading the old style section quite a bit lately , it's very interesting and encouraging!

Don't feel great today so wil just try and do at least one load and hang it up outside and will ask dh to pop to Aldi as we are running out of lots of things. May make a small payment today towards the capital one as conscious of how much still needs paying in three months.
  • Well done on getting the job, and well done on realising that it won't work for you! Yes it sounds a little bizarre saying well done for both, but look at it as a positive learning curve. You now know what you need to be earning/ hours working for it to work for you and your family and that is great. ( i know it may not feel like it)
Sorry your not feeling so great today, hope you feel better soon xx

Congratulations on getting the job, sorry that it won't work out money wise but there will be something out there for you.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today xx
  • Depending on your joint incomes, if you would have to pay childcare costs you may get some back through tax credits? turn2us has a very good calculator on.

If you dont qualify for tax credits, there is a childcare scheme in place, it was a voucher scheme where you pay for a certain amount of childcare vouchers out of your wages - so they are removed pre tax. If your husband will be earning more, it may make sense taking them from his wages. I know that scheme was to be wrapped up and replaced with the govts new scheme of paying for childcare and getting 20% back in a specific account - I dont know the in's & outs or when the schemes were changing - there should be information on the gov site.

Its worth looking into (if you havent already) before you write the job off!

    Hope you work something out

    xx

Thanks. Unfortunately due to my husband's wage we are not eligible to tax credits even with childcare. Even with the vouchers it wouldn't still be enough as we used to use that system. You never know they might offer me more money...

Have managed three loads of washing today, pegged it all out but had to use the tumble drier for the last load as it didn't fully dry.

Husband got everything from Aldi including lots of needed bits from their baby event. I made a £35 payment towards the capital one.

So I had to turn the job down as even hubby said the hours wouldn't work as some nights were until late at night.

I am going to own up - I feel like such a failure... I have had to do a money transfer to cover things that need purchasing including Xmas spends etc, I just panic knowing I don't have the cash for it. It's 0% but feel like I have just added a massive lump of new debt on the credit card. I was so holding out for this job and hoping that would cover the things needed e.g new tyre, next stage car seat , Xmas spending and final payment for Xmas holiday.

Ok, so I have woken up feeling more positive and like I need to sort my life out again!

Diet hasn't been great the last few days and steps haven't either. I did do 10000 yesterday so will carry that on.

On the money front as frustrated I am with my self I need to just ensure that transfer is the last one I do for this reason ( e.g ok if to pay another card off to save interest but not ok to just top up salary). I also need to make sure I use it extremely wisely. I need to list a few things to sell - non business related. I need to properly meal plan for the month and work out a food shopping budget until next pay day ( I think I will cash this out as it's getting too easy going the shops and putting it on the card! I feel I'm not actually sure how much I spend on food anymore, since Saturday £122:eek: but in all my defence that did include 3 boxes of Aldi wipes, 8 packs of their cotton wool and 8 bottles of their hand soap. It also was mine and hubby's date night so instead of a takeaway we bought ready made takeaway meals, I also had to buy bits for charity ( approx £5 spend). But the fact is with the debt we have, we cannot justify anywhere near this amount so this needs sorting fast! I find we go through so much fruit and am constantly topping this up.

I will sort my life out and actually clear debt!
I will actually lose weight ( in all fairness, I have lost weight but just not enough!)
