Thinking about this more I would like to have laser eye surgery - as long as it can be done under a general anaesthetic as I have a bit of a phobia of eyes.

I would love to treat myself to studying at the OU - I'd love to do classics/ancient history/English - something along those lines anyway, just for me, not for anything useful afterwards!

I'd cut my hours to part time-I don't think it would be good for me not to work at all. Or I'd consider leaving and going back in as a volunteer mentor of sorts-working 1:1 with kids who don't get that level of support at the moment. I'd miss being a proper part of a team, though.

I'd extend the kitchen, and hire a cleaner. I might buy one of the adjoining houses (if it came up for sale) so I could have a bigger garden.

But mostly, my children would leave uni debt free, I wouldn't have to worry about what would happen if I get sick, and my parents wouldn't have to worry about ending their days in a grotty nursing home because their own resources had run out.

I'd drive the car we own now coz theres nowt wrong with it and we all fit in it. I'd buy better quality food but thats it really. Oh and i woulndt shake whe the shoe shop at clarks comes round lol. (all my kids have clubfoot and its the only place i can get anything to fit them).

As I get older, my wish list has changed.(I'm nearly 29)
It used to be an old fancy house on the esplande, but no way! The council tax would be a fortune, and the gas/electricity bills. No thanks.

Now I'd buy the plot of land up the street where my primary school used to be, build an Eco friendly house, big enough for my wee family (extra room it 2 as I do hope to increase my family) having a granny annex so my parents don't have to go into a care home, but still have their own independence, this will hopefully not be for at least another 40 years (the space would get used by family outwith area who currently sleep on any couch available when they visit). Grow veg, Have a few animals like chickens, goats, sheep, cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles, and have a little 'community building' where local schools could come to see the animals. I live near lots of woodlands, not millions but enough for nature walks, and I'd like to be able to provide a base for the kids. Have solar panels, small windmills, bikes used to power different appliances - like the tv computer Wii ps3 etc. Then no one can be accused of being a couch potato lol

I'd give a lot to family, friends, local charitys, local hospital, especially the midwife unit, ardgowan Hospice, that is basically where u go to die, and they do home care too... the local children's unit, yorkhill hospital. Community groups, both in cash and premises.

A new (newer) car is essential, but it would be more economical and Eco friendly.

Invest a lot, that will provide an income.
Think I'd buy an old bar, give people jobs.
Get myself a cleaner. A cook who is going to teach me how to cook properly.

Get a nanny for my son, but not to abandon my motherly duties, but a Gaelic speaking child care worker, who was live in, helped me with him, so that we could learn Gaelic more, and I could still work or go out, but the person would be free to 'have a life' further their education etc... I wouldn't be an ogre lol.

Treat the family/friends to 'once in a lifetime' trips.
Might even splash out on a wee holiday home, but I really just like going exploring my own country.(we have fantastic places to go, but I suppose the lure if the sun will win lol)

I'm skint, in debt, but very happy! I have a brilliant son, a great family, and 6 months in a relationship that looks as tho its going to last a long time (I never believed in love a first sight, but love from 1st date is what this has been, and its going super slow to make sure my son is happy)
Money doesn't guarantee happiness, but it sure let's u be unhappy in comfort.

We had a lovely win, when my o/h won £13000 on a game show. It came and just the right time for us because our car was absolutely shot so we bought a newer car for about £10K (o/h choice) and the rest is saved up so that we can take our son on holiday. He has been ill for the past year and had just had a operation to cure the problem and we promised him that we would go on holiday when he felt better. Winning the money helped up in so much that if he hadnt of won the money then we would of had to of taken out a loan to get a car because we didnt have enough savings for a new car. So we are better off monthly having do debts :T.

I would love to be mortgage free so that we didnt have any money worries so winning £60K would be lovely please mr loto lol

I would ditch the job and invest the money all over the place, so my job would be looking after the investments (properties, shares, etc). Then I would have more time to be more Old style in a way of baking etc.
Would probably shop in M&S more and have more holidays.
Would buy myself more gadgets for cooking&baking too!:-) The best ones.

Our dream is to move somewhere even more rural and have a small holding, but it would be less about farming for profit and more about being self sufficient. we wuld have more animals and grow much more of our own stuff, and with no mortgage to support could live very frugally. Either a property around here-but further into the countryside or perhaps more towards the lakes, or even out to a highland island.
I love baking and we would probably set up some kind of small farm shop selling our surplusses and perhaps some kind of speciallities ie cakes and bread/cheese/ice cream/hand made chocolates. Perhaps a b & b or somekind of guest accomadation?
I would try to use some of the time to finally get around to doing some serious writing and try to get a book finally published-or at least finished for me to be satisfied I finally completed one lol.
Would be as green as possible and live in my wellies and old clothes permanently rofl-would become a bunch of old hippies I suspect.

This is OH and my dream and TBH anything over about 1/2 a mill would be plenty to make it a comfortably reality, but we could clear the mortgage and do things here on a smaler scale for around £200k-£300k possibly less if OH kept working outside the home initially. This is what we are aiming for so a win would bring it forward and make it much easier to attain.

Bigger house first - not ridiculous just nice 4 bed detatched with garden for veggies. I would still do my online shopping and use my supermarket - love a bargain but I would buy more organic. I'd get some nice clothes for me - the kids have the clothes budget - all of it! An electric car, a holiday home in Biarritz, a bit for the family and a full-time :jcleaner

I may consider getting married but I still think its a rip-off:D

  • with several million I would buy a huge house with a gym, library and pool - it would also need to have an annexe for the kids to have when they are teenagers (16 +) which I think would be a great way to teach them responsibility for caring for themselves whilst still having us right there. I would employ a cleaner and cook and gardener.

I would pay off the mortgages for my family and close friends. I would still not spend ridiculous amounts on day to day stuff. I would rent out my existing house to a young family struggling to get on the property ladder at a very reduced rate to allow them to save for a deposit on a place of their own - unbeknownst to them I would save every penny of rent they give me and give it all back to them towards their deposit when they move out.

I would buy a care home - employ a fantastic manager (I have several people in mind already) so that I wouldn't be tied by the day to day running but could focus my energy on doing wonderful things and outings etc for the residents and helping my staff to achieve qualifications (I would set up schemes such as funding their courses in exchange for agreeing to remain employed by me for x amount of time) and teaching them about how care should be provided. It would be not for profit so I would not charge extortionate fees - just what is needed for running expenses and to pay decent wages. Eventually I would sell it to someone on my staff who I trusted to run it well and go guarantor on their business mortgage.

My kids would not be spoilt but would have anything they needed and the financial security to be able to pursue their own dreams.

I had to quote this, as it's pretty much word for word what I would love to do. Except it's DH that is the writer, not me. I'd be out with the animals or baking. :)

If I wanted to keep my current life, about half of that money would be swallowed up just buying a house in this area. But the rest would be invested so I could quit work and just potter around our new house all day. So if anything, I'd be more OS with money as I am already fortunate enough to do it for enjoyment rather than necessity. Just need more time, which is what money would buy.
