  • Hi Hp,
Well done with all your efforts to get on top of things.

Do you deal with the LL direct or go thru an agent? Either way, suggest you contact them ASAP about the rain coming in. Take photos, keep records and email so you have a log. Structural failure such as you describe is definitely their responsibility to investigate/fix.
Adding insulation to windows is something you can do in a variety of ways but you need the rain to be kept out first.

On a separate issue, try not to flagellate yourself too much! Having read through your thread I wonder if you would find it easier to avoid small lapses if you were a little kinder to yourself in terms of expectation. If you look back you've already come a long way so there is plenty to feel good about.

    All the best,
    LR

  • Hi KR and UB,

Thank you for your kinds words. We in theory deal with landlord directly but whilst he makes all the right sounds things aren't getting done. We also don't have a working extractor fan in kitchen. He seems to have emailed our buildings management company as we're a flat but I've not heard anything apart from being cced into an email from them.

I'm feeling a bit low today. I've got a bit of a cold where I feel shake your and hot and cold. Works also been stressful with lots of big changes in the air and I'm feeling quite overwhelmed. There's a discrepancy between what people want achieving and my time allowed on the projects and also a real lack of structure and meetings. I basically work in a vacuum at the moment. I'm still a lot happier in this job than last one but not for profits are tough places as everyone is so so so stretched.

Money wise I'm not doing that well. I've not been able to keep track perfectly as I've been really swamped at work and doing overtime. I went through a bit of a run of buying lunch rather than bringing as I haven't been in to do a food shop and cook in batches. Despite being ill I managed to do a small food shop and cook last night. I got a load of reduced meat and fish and a few fresh bits to go with pasta I already have etc

Went to buy my prescriptions and they weren't all there/all right. One has been reduced it seems and this means it will cost double. It might be old Drs gave me a double amount by accident but this meant I just ordered less often and only paid the once. All seems a bit random!

Thank you for the kind words. I think I am beating myself up. I need the odd luxury I think to help with my mood and fretting so much about money rather than just making little steps is doing more harm than good probably.

If you have several prescriptions consider a pre payment card:

    http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/1127.aspx

The yearly option works out at £2 a week (10 payments of £10.40 via DD).

It's also worth considering if you won't make it pay for itself with repeats as peace of mind for one off meds being covered.

Sorry to hear you're feeling low and aren't well :grouphug:

You have a lot going on so I'm not surprised you are feeling overwhelmed.
Taking little steps is good. Do one small thing and then when you are feeling OK about that go on to the next thing. Before you know it you will have changed lots of things and you'll be feeling better about it all.

And no more beating yourself up :naughty: Be kind to yourself :A

Thanks so much for being so lovely! I think I needed to hear that! Works been totally frantic but I'm there today and having a really productive day with another colleague who is awesome.

I just wish I had the energy to do some batch cooking as I'm living off convenience options and its rinsed this months money into a sorry state. I bought some new shoes as I don't have any smart flat ones for work that aren't brogues which don't go with some things I wear to work but I'm going to take them back. They were only £20something but I can cope without, they're no good for wet weather in winter and also think I'd rather eventually buy a better quality pair that will last better. I'd love some lovel leather ballet pumps.

I don't know if any one has said this but can you get another job/work work often?

Can you start some type of side hustle? Massage therapist, tutor, designer? You must have some skills or be able to work on some skills that will allow you to earn on the side.

Sorry if theres a reason you can't there was a lot of messages to read through

    Hello again hi-there-smiley.gif?1292867616

When you have more energy then you can do some batch cooking. Until then just try and not spend more than you can afford on convenience type food.

Buying cheap versus buying expensive but quality items is sometimes difficult to decide what to do.
For me if I can afford it and it's something that will be long lasting then I'll go for expensive/quality.
If I'm skint it's cheap all the way

Have a good rest of the weekend flower-smiley.gif?1292867597

I wear ballet flats alot, tbh I've found cheap ones last as long as expensive ones.

I get about 3 pairs from Primark usually under £20, and wear them in rotation so they last longer.
  • Hi everyone,

Feeling a bit better today. Very tired but had a productive day at work yesterday. I only have today off and then working tomorrow as overtime which is good financially.

Regarding getting a second job/side hustle when I got this months pay cheque I realised I probably did need to start thinking more seriously about doing this. Then now I've randomly ended up with overtime again and some late nights at work. It's tricky I don't really want a second job if I can make ends meet through current one and then something self employed. I don't want to burn myself out and I want to be able to dedicate myself to one job mentally. I'm going to think it over some more and I have given myself a mental deadline of the new year to have a plan to earn more money.

Is love to get making things again i used to be really creative but I never turned it into an income stream. I have friends who do so I may try to use their support to motivate myself to do this.

Finances are looking quite dire. Definitely going to take shoes back. Plenty of food in house after a small shop to go with the reduced meat and fish.

Giving myself the more realistic goal of only being £100 overdrawn at end of the month. Seeing pay was on lower end and that will have meant I still saved £100 and paid this towards it.

I used to do this but then one of my prescriptions I stopped getting and realised I was better off paying each time. I don't get everything every month. Will try to double check if this will be better but I'm not sure if it is!
