  • Thank you for the suggestions both! I've remembered I have a smallish metal water bottle lurking in a cupboard that I don't use enough!

I have spends of the following:
£10 nandos (hardly essential but OH and I decided to treat ourselves)
£10 my share of food shop

Today has been a NSD and I returned that top. So that's £35 back into account meaning I'm on a 0ish!

    Hi! :) *waves*
  • Another NSD yesterday but not today. I'm off work after doing overtime yesterday and I decided to buy breakfast after an early work meeting (I popped in for).

Did something grown up yesterday and checked an old pension. Not a lot in it but better than nothing! My current work are introducing one in line with new rule. It's pretty rubbish (they pay 1%, older staff with older contracts have ones set at 5% from the good old days!) but better than nothing. I'm going to try to pay in 2% and see if I can afford that going forward.
  • Ive been a but useless today and spent £7 on brunch out and £27 on stationary/craft items!!

The latter is for a side project I am trying to get going so I have a small income stream from being self employed but I went in for three things and came out with extra stuff.

Thanks KXMX you may well be right. I've been trying to let my prescriptions settle down a bit before plotting them out and seeing if the card is the better option. They're confusing because I'm with a new Drs now who seem to prescribe in different quantities to before and I'm ending up getting things more often than I used to as a result. I'll do the maths again. Shouldn't need to buy anymore of one thing for three months but need the other again in a month.

If you explain you pay for it they will normally give you 2 months worth, bigger tub if it's cream etc

I carry a water bottle with me everywhere, saves a fortune as the drinks soon add up and you can then treat yourself when you get home

  • I've officially started to sell my crafts!

Starting very small in one shop but we will see what happens. Please all keep fingers crossed for me!

    Planning a NSD today too.
  • Why is it when I feel like I am making progress suddenly it is one step forward five steps back!

I've been trying to phone on regular meter readings to EDF. I did one recently for a period of 42 days and the electric bill I have just received is huge and huger than I thought possible.

We pay £42 DD. At last metre reading we only owed £20. We now owe £178 based on just these 42 days since.

I'm absolutely gutted and wracking my brains for how this could happen.

Our flat is entirely electric. Landlord did not provide heaters, apart from one wall mounted one in a very large lounge that really would have two radiators.

Then we bought one plug in oil radiator for lounge and a small version for bedroom. Then the kitchen we have nothing at all and the bathroom we have a heated towel rail but rarely turn it on.

We have a TV a computer an electric blanket.

We also have an immersion hot water tank which we switch on only for a few hours a day. I think only after dinner time.

    Our shower is electric.

    We have an electric blanket.

This seems totally unfair and I'm cursing renting this flat.

We don't think we put stuff on excessively we only heat bedroom for say an hour in morning and rest of flat including bedroom for a few in the evening. On the whole we spend time cold.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm really panicking.

One thing that came into my head is I've noticed when we run a bath the water pressure drops right off to a trickle after a few minutes and we don't get a full hot bath. Could there be a leak somewhere? I feel like we'd know if there was.
  • I think you will be out of this situation in no time. However, for the long term...

I know it sound obvious but, you can attack this from two directions, saving more money by not spending it but also increasing your salary.

Have you considered increasing your income by changing jobs to step up your contributions to your household? You know you are capable and deserve a better job. Set your mind upon it.

Thank you so much. I really needed to hear that. You're right I have a first class degree and I've got tangible experience and I've added real value to two work places like tangible measurable value. I've improved scores and more than doubled sales figures.
