Chinese just past 24 hour square (same side) in Benalmadina going in direction torremolinos,but only 200 yards is 4.25 euros for a four couse meal.........cheapest i have ever found.....and very good too.

Yes, the GIB flights are so frequently diverted due to winds and it can seriously delay you, you may as well just book to fly to AGP.

If you book car hire from GIB you also need to make sure you can drive it in Spain.

Yes that's what I was thinking of and that's in Tip 21, I was also thinking of seeing if there's a supermarket nearby to buy car seats if the trip is for 14 days or longer.

There is an express bus direct from the airport to Marbella bus station, around €8 one way. 45 minutes. Brilliant service.

There is also a bus from the airport to Estepona which only makes one stop at Marbella.

There's a similar one on just off Fish Alley in Fuengirola. Can't remember the same but it's opposite Moochers jazz cafe. Their set menus are excellent value and are decent quality too.

Maybe we have been lucky in the past! Must have flown into Gib at least a dozen times & only once was the flight diverted.

Tip 23. Transport from Malaga airport.

Odd that you don't mention the normal airport bus that goes right into the bus station in the centre of Malaga.

None of the resorts to the east of Malaga are served by train, and some to the west aren't either. So the bus station, rather than the train station, is where many are heading.

I know they're fairly close together, but depending which exit you come out of the train station, the bus station may not be all that obvious on a first visit.

Although at 5 Euros (IIRC, check) the bus is more expensive than the train, it's SO much more convenient for those whose onward journey is by bus.

There are many sites in Spain - from the Guggenheim down - that offer reduced admission to Seniors. If over 65, your passport or bus-pass will suffice as ID to get a generous discount. Don't be afraid to ask!

If you are staying in an urban area with many local buses - eg Malaga itself - bus tickets can usually be bought in bulk as a weekly card in an "estanco" or tobacconist - which is the same shop you buy postage stamps in! Fares are 20-50% cheaper and getting on the bus is faster!

I leave my passport in the hotel safe but carry a laminated photo-copy of the ID page in case I need to show ID. I have never been asked for it, and unless you are involved in an incident of some sort the chances are you never will, but Spain is very tolerant to tourists and I am sure it would suffice.
