Hi all,

We've written a new 43 Costa del Sol Tips guide and would love your feedback.

How did you find the info? Was it useful? Do you have any other tips you'd add?

Thanks for your help!

Tip 2 needs to include why you may end up at Malaga airport even if you're booked to fly to Gibralter.

    EDIT - See Tip 23

Brilliant! It's just what I have been looking for. I'm off to Torremolinos in a couple of weeks with my kids.

  • If you have mobility problems then be careful where you stay.

Benalmadena and Torremolinos are hilly ( you could say very hilly ) and in both cases the Railway Stations are not at sea level. Fuengirola is flat, dead flat with a long flat promenade and the Railway Station is easy flat access,
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

  • Mijas tapas trail in July & August is a good deal, and a good deal of fun. get your Passporte de Tapas at the tourist office in the pueblo, each complete stamped card returned to the office awards you with a free entry to the Mijas waterpark.

#42 - I've been to the Costa Del Sol dozens of times and have never been asked for my passport by a police officer. I would say leaving it safely in the hotel is far better than carrying with you to avoid the risk of it being lost, stolen or damaged.

Also leave an emergency backup credit/debit card in your hotel or apartment in case anything does happen to your purse/wallet.
  • Hi Richard,

thanks for the post, I wasn't sure what you meant by ending up at Malaga if you're booked to Gibraltar, did you mean a diversion?

We feature some of the other ways to get from the other airport, such as Renfe trains, taxi and shuttle services but if there are any others you think we should include that would be great.

In terms of the kids store' is that the one with the car hire seats? We give an example of hiring from there but were you thinking of other examples too?

Thanks for the feedback, always welcome! We'll be looking to keep updating this guide and adding to it so any tips from your travels.

If flying to Gib and the wind is in the wrong direction or too strong the plane may need to divert to Malage in order to land, topography and the weather make this a possible occurance. Coaches are normally put on to bus the passengers from Malaga to Gibraltar - but obviously there will be a delay.
  • When I flew into Gibraltar last year I was talking to a Gibraltar resident sitting next to me on the flight. She said it can be a nightmare if flights are diverted to Malaga especially if it is the main holiday season as the motorway back to Gibraltar can be very very busy and then the possible queues to get back across the border.
