    And just to add -

If you are eligible for the Severe Disability Premium of £61.85 pw (added to your ESa award) this can be backdated to the date of the PIP award (27th April).

When you phone the DWP tomorrow, you may want to ask them about these premiums. There is a short form to complete for the SDP (an IS 10 form, I think).
If the DWP tell you that you aren't eligible, do check this with your local CAB. Sometimes individual DWP people can get this wrong..

(Let us know what they say about the SDP - and I'm sure one of us will be able to explain.
It can be a bit complicated (depending on whether your ESa is contribution or income based), so I won't go into details now - Only if you do need more info)

    Hiya's,

Thanks for all the replies and help

Ames, you're right about the pip being more than my benefit i was on, i am actually staggered, it sounds stupid but a council tax monthly payment was 4 days late last year and they threatened me with 'you'll have to pay it all in one go if another payment was late', that's how desperate my finances were and i don't have any debt either

My gas/elec are on quarterly meters as i know ever going in debt to those means a lot more gas/elec cost due to cards or keys whatever they are, so i paid those as a priority and if i went hungry i went hungry but at least i wasn't cold

What's in my account i can live off for sure, heck i can pay the remaining council tax and that's done n dusted, i can even get a pair of slippers without thinking of them costing a fiver, sounds daft but mine are 4yrs old this christmas and pretty worn

I'd assumed it replaced pip or would be lowered at a certain level, i dunno really because i honestly didn't know anything about being able to get anymore help, it was solely the professionals supporting me that got things moving, i really was just trying to hang on to my benefit and my home for as long as i could

I've been that used to going without and really worrying down to the last penny, struggling to heat/eat became the norm :( again, as many do, and i know there are worse off people out there too

I will try and get a nephew to check my balance, then i'll get help to call the DWP tomorrow as soon as i can

Alice, i'll post back as soon as i've spoke to them if i have to that is, and i've wrote those premiums down as i'm not very good writing stuff or filling forms in and really deaf on the phone and get mixed up sometimes

    Thankyou Again All :)

    Have a Good Night

It would be helpful to people if you have more questions if you ask the DWP when you ring if you're on income or contributions based ESA.

    Enjoy your new slippers!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    Hello Ames,

I've no idea on the income/contributions side of things so will ask them

The slippers, sure i'll enjoy them, it's really hard to explain how weird it seems at this time not having to worry about robbing peter to pay paul over spending a fiver

Here's to hoping my last two hearing aid batteries until friday don't die on me tomorrow

    Again, Many Thanks

    G'night

    Def

Edited, I've got a relative calling in around 9am to help me phone, to ask for clearer information as to what amount/when it's to be paid

Also i'm to ask/enquire about SDP and/or EDP, and also find out if my ESA is contribution or Income based

Hopefully i can settle after 9am

    Thanks All

    Hello All,

Earlier than expected and no waiting ina queue

Called the PIP number, got through right away to a very nice and patient lady

I will get the £559 pip on the 12th August 2016, then every 4th Friday

So that's settled my mind somewhat over that part

I asked about my ESA being Contribution or Income based and mentioned SDP-EDP

She gave me a number for ESA, and said they should be able to at least explain when and the amount of ESA payment will be paid (if imy writing makes sense to you, i think i phrased it right)

So i'll have a drink and calm down a bit, then we're calling the ESA

Will reply back with hopefully more information/details/date/s

    Many Thanks

    :)

    Hello,

It seems yet again it can only happen to me

I have so many weird and wonderfully stupid things happen through no fault of my own, and it looks like todays events so far are going the same way

Called ESA, after being put through to the wrong department by another department then finally getting to talk to someone who got my claim up

They found my ESA was Open but not Live, the nice lady has emailed my nearest centre dealing with my case, turns out Hanley (had to deal with that centre some years ago after my benefit was stopped for no reason, they appologised etc and benefit was actually drew out the following day (i have weird stuff like this happen often, seems i'm just an unlucky person lol)

So, they have opened a 3hr callback to me, if i haven't heard from them by 12-40pm today, i'm to wait until 1pm and call ESA back so they can escalate it

And as i was typing this, Hanley i think have just called me, they explained i'm in the process of being moved from Income Support (even though i have everything for ages with ESA on as the header) to ESA

Yet again another nice lady, she's contacting ESA in Worcester, who are going to call me back and explain everything

Also the last lady was able to explain my fortnightly benefit will be the same as-in being paid in and also the amount stays the same and may increase

I did ask about SDP and EDP and also whether the IS was realated to contributions/income based, but she said that'll all be explained to me either over the phone and for sure by letter

Now to the ESA two part option things, she was able to tell me i'll be put right in the Support Group, which is where my doctor and mental health team knew and stated i should be in ever it came to the two options

As i type again, yet again !! another really nice lady has called from Worcester

My luck, a computer error of sorts, they have just put a payment in of £415.45

And have given me a total IS figure payable of £121.10 pw which is being moved over to ESA rapidly by the sounds of it

Also i did ask about SDP and EDP, the EDP looks like £15.75 (didn't catch whether it was monthly or anything sorry)

I will recieve paperwork regarding all the details in due course, and she said the form for SDP will be included or words to that effect

If i was to write a short story book of my luck with computer errors over the years, i don't think anyone would believe how bad my luck can get lol

I really am glad of all your help

So if i have got it all correct .......

PIP will be £559 a month paid on every fourth friday in the month
IS soon to be ESA Support Group will be £121.10 per week
I will get EDP of £15.75 (a month and factored in my IS/soon to be ESA ?

And from what she said i will qualify for SDP

It really is a lot for me to take in, i've been in a panic since getting the pip form telling me i am entitled to it but not actually knowing anything about it, but now thanks to all, i think i know where i stand budget wise

If anyone needs anything more from me just ask

I've not slept well and with some of my conditions i have to grab sleep as/when i can, so i'm shattered and will try and relax and get some rest

    Many Many Thanks to All

It's honestly very much appreciated that you took time out of your lives to help me

    :)

if you were previously on income support, that means you are getting income related ESA.
we really need to know if you are in the work related group or in the support group.

if you are in the support group you will receive £373 a fortnight, plus your PIP.
you will also get maximum housing benefit for your circumstances and maximum council tax support.

the additional money is the severe disability premium.
this is something that you need to apply for and is not awarded automatically.

you need to ask for form IS10

Once you are getting the SDP of £61.85pw (having completed the IS 10 form), then -
Your annual ESa income will be £9,718.
Your annual PIP award will be £7,267.
In total £16,985 a year (plus council tax paid - as nannytone said).

So, hopefully, you will be able to use this to improve your life and your health (eat better and not go hungry again, or have to chose between eating and heating!).

Just a couple of points I think you should be aware of:
    1) The Savings limits for the income-based benefits (ESa & CTr):
    http://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/savings
So, an emergency fund gradually built up to just below £6k is won't affect your benefits, but above that you have to declare it to the DWP and the council, and your income-based benefits start to reduce.

    2) In a few years time you will get renewal ESa & PIP forms to complete - do get some help with this.
For instance, the CAB would help and would also be able to help if any follow up is required.

    Bw.

PS. The EDP of £15.75 is a weekly payment.

I'm not sure what point you're at in the ESA process - have you filled in any forms explaining what you can and can't do? They're different to the PIP forms. Have you had an assessment for ESA, or only one for PIP?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    Hiya's,

The ESA person said i will go straight into the Support group, she said that's already decided

That was due to me not even needing a home visit as they had so much evidence off my gp (and i must stress she's been great, and believe it i've only been with the practice just over 26mths ! and also my mental health team, who really have saved me one way or another)

And also whenever i could attend assessments years ago, they actually told me after a very short check/interview i would keep my benefit, and at those times it was Atos run

Now i asked about the EDP and SDP

I have been awarded EDP as Alice stated £15.75, again, the esa lady confirmed that

The SDP she couldn't see a problem with as i've been awarded both Enhanced rates of PIP and never been on DLA and never had a claim for Carers Allowance, which from her understanding meant a claim would be pretty easy

She said in all the paperwork which will soon be heading my way, there will be a form for SDP and not to panic, it's a very simple form, and any problems she gave me the esa number just in case

A relative has been to check and as they said, they had instantly credited my account with £415.45

Now a slight confusion was this, she said for better understanding to think of my Income Support as Income Support soon to be ESA, which now makes sense to me after being told because i was awarded PIP i was being kind of rushed through onto ESA Support Group to tidy my details up on the system (again words to that effect)

The next confusion was i did note things down, but may of misheard

I'd wrote down ESA £121.10 pw
Payment instantly done £415.45 a back pay from when PIP was claimed (i assume) regarding IS-soon to be ESA or EDP backdated ?
£15.75 awarded, which as Alice stated

Also really bar a short spell of being blunt by one person, must admit the ones i spoke to wer very pleasent and did bare with my hearing difficulties :)

I am assuming, bad i know, that the form she is putting in will be the SDP as above she did explain in my circumstance i meet the criteria

Just googled and the IS10 form does indeed seem to be for SDP

So i now know my pip amount and when it's due

I now know even though paperwork recently was headed as ESA i just need to think of it as i'm at this moment in time still on IS as, IS soon to be ESA Support Group, and by the impression i got it will be soon

So all i have to do now is wait for i assume a decent amount of paperwork to read/keep, which will include IS10 for SDP

I have someone who's going to pay the last of my council tax off tomorrow for me, then i've got no worry regarding that

A relative has arranged a co-worker i knew many years ago to give me an estimate/quote on my roof leaking, so if it's around the £600 mark i can get that done as soon as possible saving further interior damage

It really has all happened so fast, and from listening and explaining, i was elligable for all this for so many years, yet i never knew and obviously informed about, and to think it only cropped up in a random conversation with my psyhcologist on a normal home visit !

Hope that all makes sense, i honestly feel like a haven't slept for days, and feel somewhat exhausted

I have just took my last medications for the day and they knock me about bad :(

I am going to get some sleep i hope, will check back when i wakeup in case there's anything i can answer

    Yet Again

Thankyou All for taking time out to reply and help, it's really much appreciated :)

    Thanks

    Def

ps : About the IS to ESA swapover, i was told the only form i now have to fill in would be the SDP one, again, i am assuming it might be a simple swap in name terms ? but the last lady did stress the only form i have to return would be a very simple one for a premium (which after being told they have given me the EDP i can only think it is the SDP you have all mentioned)

The payment being withheld on monday, was explained as the IS system didn't match the ESA system (my benefit data i guess) due to me being transferred from IS to ESA Support

Again, i think i just need to calm down, then wait and see what paperwork does turn up

I am due a payment on the 12th August, yet again an assumption, this will be my newly adjusted IS/ESA-Support payment

Well the meds including my zopiclones are kicking in

    Goodnight All

    Thanks :)
