Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

    More good things for today

*Found 5p on the way to Mr S. When we got there the charity workers were still there so my son put it into their pot. Which he was rewarded with a lolly for.
    * Found a coupon on our way to the shops for 50 Mr S points if you purchased a coke. The 500ml size. If redeemed Croca Cola would donate the cost of a meal for a homeless person. So we decided to buy coke.
    * Bought 12 2nd class stamps, 2 packets of the 40p tea bags, which we find fine for daily use. A pack of £1.50 for 12 envelopes so I could send my last 3 xmas cards. Bought a pack of own branded cold remedy for Oh for 70p as he is suffering a bit. Much better than paying the £4.50 they wanted in Mr T last night for branded cold and flu. Because the coke coupon added 50p to the value of my points I was then able to cash in another £2.50 in nectar points. So that paid for most of the shopping (not the tangerines)
    * At home I used up a portion of chilli for my lunch, as well as the tail end of yesterday's French stick. Did BLT for OH and DS and DD had leftover veggies and sausages from another meal.
    * The last tenant left me some drinks they didn't want, so my DS drank up some of the unopened OJ today
    * Re-listed a lot of eBay items again
    * Took both kids to the park for a walk and play

    Think thats it :)

    Bob

  • Some great bargains there and lovely leftovers, I'm still trying to convert the family with some food items and having small successes e.g. my kids have always insisted on the Giant that is Green tinned sweetcorn (very expensive), I managed to get them to downgrade to shops own and then yesterday I got basics frozen and made it for tea - they never said a word!!!

How nice for ds to get a lolly for his donation.

Thanks for mentioning about FD's saving accounts, and being able to apply on line. Dh and I shall both be doing that, and moving money across each month from the offset.

  • That's awful about the (non/late) payers. I wouldn't dream of that.

Sounds like today was much better though.

    Thanks Verbatim

Huggle it's hard when people have a brand affinity to break it. And although kids should not be part of the DMU we all know they are often the main driver of what goes in the basket. I am very lucky that my son and husband are both very easily pleased with whatever I buy brand wise. I however have one Achilles heel, Lurpack. It's hellishly expensive but none of the cheaper styles do it for me. And I like a lot of butter when I'm having it. OH likes just a scrape. So I can't say I'm a saint.

Apple I am just opening a JA with First Direct, so don't know if I can claim credit for that one? But glad you are also a customer they must be good then :)

Cheeseface thank you, yes a good simple day so far.... I'm loathe not to include that 'so far'

    Morning everyone

Bob - have just been catching up and read about you sneaking the sprouts into the dinner, and it reminded me of a friend of mine, her and her hubby had a bit of an argument and she was cross with him, when she made his pack up she shredded up some sprouts and mixed them in with the salad that went into his sandwiches, hence if my hubby is in my bad books, I tell him he'll be getting brussel sprout sandwiches!

    Keep safe and well x
