    Good work, Bob

I keep meaning to mention that you are almost entirely to blame for my new Endevour obsession btw. You mentioned it on here weeks ago, and I have now watched about 8 hours of it and have a slight crush on Shaun Evans (is that normal?)

Well I'm so pleased to point you in that direction, it's a great show isn't it? Slight crush on Shaun Evans entirely normal (slight crush on Detective Inspector Thursday errrrrm:eek:)

    Afternoon All

It's a lovely spring like day here. The cover is off the trampoline and the garden has been played in for the first time in ages.

    Wealth

    * Woke to talk of the business rates increase on the breakfast news. I have to say I am very worried about this. At the moment no one knows whether they will have to pay a lot more. I simply do not have the budget to throw at a huge hike. In a nutshell if they insist on a massive increase I would have to give up my business. You can appeal but it can take months for them to review. In light of things looking so positive it is still an enormous iceberg looming..

    * DS has decided that he would rather fold his savings account funds into his CTF than start another cash account. They are closing the branch we use nearby and moving several miles away so it's not something we want to have to be dealing with.
I have explained to him that this means locking in funds till he is 18 and he is happy with that.

    * So far a NSD. We do need a new deodorant though so I am planning to take all the change from the roadkill fund and pay the 55p that way. So still hopefully a NSD.

    Health

    * DD has a heavy cold all of a sudden. But with 3 teeth emerging it could be teething.

    * Off for a wander to Mr S for cheap deodorant, so will have a nice walk by the river on route. Also have two round trips to do to the venue between 4.30 and 12 so that is 2 hours of cycling coming up.

    Organisation

    * DS cleaned the bathroom, amazingly well for an 8 year old!

    * Whole house hoovered between DH and I.

    * Several loads of washing packed away and more on.

    * Cleaned all the freezer drawers out and repacked.

    * Made a list of all the jobs I want to get done this half term. Including starting to paint the house. It hasn't been done in the 5 years we've been here. We have a lot of white paint already so it's a free job.

    Have a good day.

    Bob

  • Hi Bob,

I saw that too and wondered if it would affect you at all.

Well done to DS cleaning the bathroom, does he fancy doing mine?

Hope it is just teething with DD poor baby.

It is lovely out there and set to get slightly warmer next week, Spring is definitely on its way.
  • Fingers crossed that the business rates doesn't increase for you Bob. We have a couple of local businesses round here that are having to close due to this, so sad really xx

Thanks, all I can do is hope not. It would be a real kicker to survive one business not working out, starting another and still not making a living from it. I know you know what it's like to have something big hanging over you as well. Just got to keep going till I know more.

Ha ha DS probably would for the right price, he's quite a canny one :)

Thanks, it is sad. There really is just no help for small businesses. I'm sorry to hear about the businesses near you closing.

Hope the business rates don't go up Bob, no wonder you're worried, that really is rotten.

Well done on getting DS cleaning. :T I don't think I ever cleaned a bathroom properly until I left home at 19/20. :o I did do things like dishes, hoovering, changing bed sheets & putting washings on/hanging them out for my mum though in my defence. :o

Thank you. I really do appreciate all the support. Fingers crossed I am one of the lucky ones.

Sounds like you did plenty then! :)
